Messenger My work is loving the world. Here the sunflowers, there the hummingbird — equal seekers of sweetness. Here the quickening yeast; there the blue plums. Here the clam deep in the speckled sand. Are my boots old? Is my coat torn? Am I no longer young, and still not half-perfect? Let me keep my mind on what matters, which is my work, which is mostly standing still and learning to be astonished. The phoebe, the delphinium. The sheep in the pasture, and the pasture. Which is mostly rejoicing, since all ingredients are here, which is gratitude, to be given a mind and a heart and these body-clothes, a mouth with which to give shouts of joy to the moth and the wren, to the sleepy dug-up clam, telling them all, over and over, how it is that we live forever. ~ Mary Oliver ~ |

Studying Old Tango lyrics inspires my poetry
ALMA DE BOHEMIO was written as a Tango for Concert for piano by Roberto Firpo, expressesly for a play of the same name. It was dedicated “To the eminent national actor Florencio Parraviccini.” Juan Caruso contributed the lyrics. ENGLISH Traveler and dreamer, to sing, I want (to sing) my fantasy and the mad poetry that there is in my heart! Filled with love and joy, I’ll empty out my passion. I always felt the sweet illusion to be living my passion. If I don’t live what I dream I dream all that I sing, that’s why my charm is love. My poor bohemian soul I want to caress and like a flower permeate with perfume. And in my nights of pain to speak I go (to speak) with the stars, and the most beautiful things awake, I’m going to dream Because I trust in them all my thirst for love. I always felt the sweet illusion to be living my passion. I look for in the light blue eyes and in black long hairs; sincere passions, sweet emotion. And in my eternal wandering life filled with illusion, I want to give all my heart. |
You Move Me by Garth Brooks
A song by Garth Brooks called You Move Me is perfect...
This is how it seems to me Life is only therapy Real expensive And no guarantee So I lie here on the couch With my heart hanging out Frozen solid with fear Like a rock in the ground But you move me You give me courage I didn’t know I had You move me on I can’t go with you And stay where I am So you move me on This is how love was to me I could look and not see Going through the emotions Not knowin’ what they mean And it scared me so much That I just wouldn’t budge I might have stayed there forever If not for your touch Oh but you move me Out of myself and into the fire You move me Now I’m burning with love And with hope and desire How you move me You go whistling in the dark Making light of it Making light of it And I follow with my heart Laughing all the way Oh ‘cause you move me You get me dancing and you make me sing You move me Now I’m taking delight In every little thing How you move me |

The Secret
By Denise Levertov Two girls discover the secret of life in a sudden line of poetry. I who don’t know the secret wrote the line. They told me (through a third person) they had found it but not what it was not even what line it was. No doubt by now, more than a week later, they have forgotten the secret, the line, the name of the poem. I love them for finding what I can’t find, and for loving me for the line I wrote, and for forgetting it so that a thousand times, till death finds them, they may discover it again, in other lines in other happenings. And for wanting to know it, for assuming there is such a secret, yes, for that most of all |

My 2 left feet. :)

Here's an exercise to try.
Turn your head to the left. No matter what you see there take the time to really look at it. No matter what it is, no matter how mundane and plain it is, there is someone who will see some form of absolute beauty in it. The trick is to try and see it too. When you do, that's moving. |

I have a niece who was born with one arm, and who I think the world of. She is a hero to me and many others and watching her ride is one of the things that moves me more than I can say.
Thank you for this thread, Nat, and thank you Tazz and Vintage Femme for your comments. I hope you're having a good night. :-) |

wishing you peaceful slumbers when you get there... (f) |
The cries of a new born baby-safely in the arms of its mother.
People-family/friends/strangers who have your back..they care enough to defend you..there when you need them the most..count me as one of those people. Driving on a lonely country road...seeing nature, the trees, the animals, the mountains and the open sky..happy being alive, brings me to tears. Looking up at the night skies, our galaxy..just beautiful. Death-Watching family cry over the passing of a loved one moves me to tears. Sad movies...and sad songs...Adele "Hello" When me and the wife argue :bigcry: Money...lots of it! :D |

:) yep - still moves me. Loved that movie. Little River Phoenix - wish he'd lived longer. |
I only recently discovered Leontyne Price while looking for a song for the soundtrack on "A Room with a View." From that (also gorgeous) song, I clicked on this one:
And it also was beautiful and seemed so full of longing, that I thought to look up the story behind the song. Long story short, there's folktale about a rusalka- a sort of water spirit in Eastern European folklore across several countries - that appears to be the original story behind "The Little Mermaid." This folktale was made into an opera, and the "song to the moon" is similar in intent to disney's "part of your world." Basically the rusalka wishing she could be a mortal woman because love for a mortal man has filled her with longing. Anyway, I thought it was an interesting discovery. And the singer, Leontyne Price, she herself, her voice, is gorgeously moving. |

The Moon and stars. Sunset and dusk. Cloud shadows on the hills. The masterpiece of land and sky that I admire every single day and night. Nothing is more beautiful or peaceful.

Classical music, vulnerability, "le mot juste"
Katniss~~ |
Charming sensitivity, clever witticism, honorable and chivalrous behavior, the ability to know the subtle difference between sensual and sexual prowess and the line of vulnerability between them both, and the fine art of romance - in a way that is only unique to them.

People who take active positions against dictatorial adversaries and vote for policies that weave social stability for all sectors of society.
This is what moves me: People who care about people. People willing to stand up for the right thing and do the right thing. |
Being under pressure...that's what moves me..like the song by david bowie.Makes me wanna do a music video dancing down those eerie hallways of the cecil hotel in downtown los angeles, california.
I'm definitely watching to much YouTube these days.:missing: Oh I remember that hotel, back in 1979 that was called home. |
Nature... always nature. Vulnerability that is courageous. What my ears hear as perfect music. My grandson. My ghosts.

Saturday Night Live (SNL).
I seriously like/love how the creators of SNL will take on political hot topics and show the world just how redickulous and effing dangerous apolitical views can be. Here is one of the latest SNL skits: I wonder if they will break out the "New Sheriff in Town" skit concerning the fake sheriff's badge Mr. Perp-walker was showing off recently. We shall see. In other news: Please vote like your life depends on it because it does. Democracy in the US is at stake and I seriously want for everybody in our country to denounce the GOP by voting for Democracy that belongs to us all -- not the dictator wanna-be's or election deniers of the GOP (.....). |
I have picked up this unconventional magazine and was reading an article on Corita Kent, a nun and and art teacher at Immaculate Heart College in Hollywood. Some of her quotes have moved me into some inspiration today...
"To the extent we can approach our job as an amateur(from the Latin amare, meaning to love) will we be successful in our work. When we pursue a thing for love, we are free to fumble and make mistakes. The source of our work may not run smoothly, but we are open to possibilities, embracing everything we have contact with." "Not all of are painters but we all are artists. Each time we are fitting something together we are creating...whether it be a loaf of bread, a child, a day" |
