One of my MOST Favorites!!!!
Fairytale of New York -- The Pogues with Kirsty MacColl It was Christmas Eve babe In the drunk tank An old man said to me, won't see another one And then he sang a song The Rare Old Mountain Dew I turned my face away And dreamed about you Got on a lucky one Came in at ten to one I've got a feeling This year's for me and you So Happy Christmas I love you baby I can see a better time When all our dreams come true They've got cars big as bars They've got rivers of gold But the wind goes right through you It's no place for the old When you first took my hand On a cold Christmas Eve You promised me Broadway was waiting for me You were handsome You were pretty Queen of New York City When the band finished playing They howled out for more Sinatra was swinging, All the drunks they were singing We kissed on a corner Then danced through the night The boys of the NYPD choir Were singing "Galway Bay" And the bells were ringing out For Christmas day You're a bum You're a punk You're an old slut on junk Lying there almost dead on a drip in that bed You scumbag, you maggot You cheap lousy faggot Happy Christmas your arse I pray God it's our last The boys of the NYPD choir Still singing "Galway Bay" And the bells were ringing out For Christmas day I could have been someone Well so could anyone You took my dreams from me When I first found you I kept them with me babe I put them with my own Can't make it all alone I've built my dreams around you The boys of the NYPD choir Still singing "Galway Bay" And the bells are ringing out For Christmas Day [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eCr30OVMjHA"]YouTube- The Pogues & Kirsty McColl - Fairytale Of New York (Xmas Song)[/ame] ~Theo~ :D:clap::xmascandle::violin::musicnote::bouquet: |

I love the old religious classics - Silent Night, It CAme Upon a Midnight Clear, Away in a Manger, O Holy Night. It's not that I dislike the secular music, but my preference is what I call the religious stuff - the songs you'd find in a church hymnal and the like. There's a radio station that plays CHristmas all the time until Christmas, and I've tried listening to it but find myself not enjoying it, and I think it's because they play mostly secular stuff and not religious. I have nothing against Frosty the Snowman, don't mind hearing it, but give me my church music and I'm happiest!

Amy Grant....Grown up Christmas List
Grown-up christmas list Do you remember me? I sat upon your knee; I wrote to you With childhood fantasies. Well, I'm all grown-up now, And still need help somehow.(can you still help somehow) I'm not a child, But my heart still can dream. So here's my lifelong wish, My grown-up christmas list. Not for myself, But for a world in need. No more lives torn apart, That wars would never start,(and wars would never start) And time would heal all hearts. And everyone would have a friend, And right would always win, And love would never end. This is my grown-up christmas list. As children we believed The grandest sight to see Was something lovely Wrapped beneath our tree.(wrapped beneath the tree) Well heaven surely knows That packages and bows Can never heal A hurting human soul. No more lives torn apart, That wars would never start, And time would heal all hearts. And everyone would have a friend, And right would always win, And love would never end. This is my grown-up christmas list. What is this illusion called the innocence of youth? Maybe only in our blind belief can we ever find the truth. (there'd be) No more lives torn apart, That wars would never start, And time would heal all hearts. And everyone would have a friend, And right would always win, And love would never end, oh. This is my grown-up christmas list. This is my grown-up christmas list |

Bruce Cockburn's Christmas is one of my all-time favourite Christmas albums. It has some really great songs on it. I've only found a couple on YouTube. I'll try fine something so I can DL a song or two.

Believe (from the film, "The Polar Express") -- Josh Groban with Beyonce (Oscars, 2005) Children sleeping, snow is softly falling Dreams are calling like bells in the distance We were dreamers not so long ago But one by one we all had to grow up When it seems the magic's slipped away We find it all again on Christmas day Believe in what your heart is saying Hear the melody that's playing There's no time to waste There's so much to celebrate Believe in what you feel inside And give your dreams the wings to fly You have everything you need If you just believe Trains move quickly to their journey's end Destinations are where we begin again Ships go sailing far across the sea Trusting starlight to get where they need to be When it seems that we have lost our way We find ourselves again on Christmas day Believe in what your heart is saying Hear the melody that's playing There's no time to waste There's so much to celebrate Believe in what you feel inside And give your dreams the wings to fly You have everything you need If you just believe If you just believe If you just believe If you just believe Just believe Just believe [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CC9i8istp6Q"]YouTube- Beyonce and Josh Groban - Believe (Live at Oscars 2005)[/ame] ~Theo~ :winky::musicnote::bunchflowers: |
