Viktor Frankl * Warning - Concentration Camp scenes - Graphic *

Viktor Emil Frankl Short documentary PROPER part1

The narrator's voice is slow, a bit monotonous but the doc
is valuable in understanding what Dr. Frankl and millions endured.

Victor Frankl was a world-renowned psychiatrist and professor who spent three years in a Nazi concentration camps during World War II. During this time he lost his entire immediate family -- mother, father, brother, and wife - with the exception of one sister. Among the thirty-nine books he authored was a book that is known in English as Man's Search for Meaning, translated directly as, saying yes to life in spite of everything. In this book he detailed his experience in the concentration camps, and shared his philosophy around the importance of meaning and hope.

Journalist and author Chris Hedges delivers a lecture based on his book Death of the Liberal Class. Hedges argues that there are five pillars of the liberal establishment - the press, liberal religious institutions, labor unions, universities and the Democratic Party - but that these institutions have failed the constituents they purport to represent.

The World Tomorrow : Cypherpunks Part 1

The World Tomorrow : Cypherpunks Part 2

Published on Jun 5, 2012 by AssangeWorldTomorrow

A terrifying war is being fought in the digital second world of modern life. Technology designed to soak up individual's private communications is in constant development. In the age of cyber surveillance where does the boundary between private and public fall -- if it still exists at all?

On the front line of this digital conflict are the Cypherpunks, the focus of a two part special of The World Tomorrow beginning with part one this week. Andy Muller Maguhn, Jeremie Zimmerman, and Jacob Appelbaum are all prominent web activists advocating the free circulation of data and knowledge on the web. They are all key figures in the Cypherpunks movement -- a movement dedicated to keeping your private data private. In this eye-opening encounter, Julian Assange discusses with them the technical challenge posed by government snooping on personal data, the democratisation of essential encryption technology, and the importance of web activism. As Jacob Applebaum points out, "Now we take our personal lives and we put it all on Facebook. We communicate using the Internet or mobile phones, which are now meshed to the Internet. And military or intelligence agencies have control of that data and are studying it. So this is some kind of militarization of civilian life."

Words from the Mothers of the children in Fukishima

Women's "Die-In" against the Restart of Ooi Nuke Plant (Jun/07/2012)

On June 7, 2012, about 70 women including 10 women from Fukushima did a "die-in" in front of the Prime Minister's Official Residence to protest against the restart of Ooi Nuclear Power Plant. Before the die-in, 10 Fukushima women visited the Cabinet Office and met with officials to submit a letter of requests addressed to Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda.

This video clip shows the words from the Fukushima women and part of the die-in.

On the very next day, June 8, 2012, Prime Minister Noda held a press conference and declared he would restart Ooi Nuclear Power Plant.

WAR ON HEALTH: The FDA’s Cult of Tyranny

Introduced by the director (from his speech at the world premiere in New York City, June 15, 2012)

In the near future, American medical practice may change dramatically for the worse. No longer will maximal dose natural supplements—vitamins, natural compounds, and scientifically proven medicinal herbs—be available over the counter in local health and grocery stores. Holistic practice, which relies upon non-prescription natural treatments instead of Big Pharma drugs prescribed life-long, will diminish. American healthcare will be imprisoned, patients will be forced to abide by a single medical paradigm defined by corporate drug and food executives and dictated by a government enforcement agency, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This is the bleak scenario if the FDA succeeds in limiting Americans’ options to prevent and treat diseases.

‘War on Health’ is the first documentary detailing and challenging the FDA agenda and its allegiance with the international Codex Alimentarius, which hopes to establish a monolithic food and health regime. Betraying its founding mandate to assure drug, food and chemical safety in the interests of public health, the FDA today is a repressive bureaucracy serving pharmaceutical and agricultural greed and profits. Vaccines, medical devices, prescription drugs are fast tracked at alarming rates through the FDA at the expense of scientific oversight to assure their efficacy and safety. The result is hundreds of thousands premature deaths annually from pharmaceutical drugs, vaccines and medical devices and an epidemic of medical incompetence and fraud sanctioned by federal health officials.

Featuring many pioneering American and European attorneys, physicians, medical researchers and advocates of health freedom, War on Health lifts the veil on FDA’s militaristic operations against organic food providers and alternative physicians. The film’s conclusion is perfectly clear: the FDA is a tyrannical cult founded upon the denial of sound medical science with little intention to improve the nation’s health and prevent disease.

The Drugging Of Our Children (Full Length)

In the absence of any objective medical tests to determine who has ADD or ADHD, doctors rely in part on standardized assessments and the impressions of teachers and guardians while the they administer leave little room for other causes or aggravating factors, such as diet, or environment. Hence, diagnosing a child or adolescent with ADD or ADHD is often the outcome, although no organic basis for either disease has yet to be clinically proven. Psychiatrists may then prescribe psychotropic drugs for the children without first without making it clear to parents that these medications can have severe side-effects including insomnia, loss of appetite, headaches, psychotic symptoms and even potentially fatal adverse reactions, such as cardiac arrhythmia. And yet, despite these dangers, many school systems actually work with government agencies to force parents to drug their children, threatening those who refuse with the prospect of having their children taken from the home unless they cooperate.

Chris Hedges on Capitalism’s ‘Sacrifice Zones’

Bill Moyers and Chris Hedges on Capitalism's 'Sacrifice Zones'

There are forgotten corners of this country where Americans are trapped in endless cycles of poverty, powerlessness, and despair as a direct result of capitalistic greed. Journalist Chris Hedges calls these places "sacrifice zones," and joins Bill this week on Moyers & Company to explore how areas like Camden, New Jersey; Immokalee, Florida; and parts of West Virginia suffer while the corporations that plundered them thrive.

"These are areas that have been destroyed for quarterly profit. We're talking about environmentally destroyed, communities destroyed, human beings destroyed, families destroyed," Hedges tells Bill. "It's the willingness on the part of people who seek personal enrichment to destroy other human beings...

And because the mechanisms of governance can no longer control them, there is nothing now within the formal mechanisms of power to stop them from creating essentially a corporate oligarchic state."

The broadcast includes images from Hedges' collaboration with comics artist and journalist Joe Sacco, Days of Destruction, Days of Revolt, which is an illustrated account of their travels through America's sacrifice zones. Kirkus Reviews calls it an "unabashedly polemic, angry manifesto that is certain to open eyes, intensify outrage and incite argument about corporate greed."

A columnist for Truthdig, Hedges also describes the difference between truth and news. "The really great reporters -- and I've seen them in all sorts of news organizations -- are management headaches because they care about truth at the expense of their own career," Hedges says.

The Gary Null Show - 6/14/12 - CHRIS HEDGES

Chris Hedges: A look at our nation's "sacrifice zones" as evidence of rapid soci-economic decay across the US.

Guest:
Chris Hedges is one of our nation's most insightful cultural critics and authors. For almost 20 years he was a foreign correspondent in war zones and conflicts in Central America, the Middle East, Africa and the Balkans, having reported for The New York Times, Christian Science Monitor and other news outlets. While at the Times, Chris received the 2002 Pulitzer Prize for reporting on global terrorism. The same year he received Amnesty International's Global Award for Human Rights Journalism.

Chris' most recent book, co-written with the renowned cartoonist and author Joe Sacco, is "Days of Destruction, Days of Revolt" -- which takes a hard look at areas in the US that are the "sacrifice zones" -- where the well being of people have been most impoverished in the name of profit and progress. He also writes a weekly column for the award winning political blog Truthdig.

It's Simpler Than You Think

While I appreciate the videos and discussions of connecting the dots...I already know for sure what the meaning of life is...Come closer....

It's LOVE. Pure and simple. Love all you can, love your family, tell them every day..don't forget as it could be your last time to tell them..You never know! Love IS EVERYTHING.

That is all.

Great thread. Finding meaning. Just so happens i've been thinking a lot about this lately. On the one hand, i know my "calling" in this life was to be a nurse. I bank on that as my reason to be here.

On the other hand, in 100 years will anyone even think about anything i've ever done or said. No. Realistically no. I didn't invent the wheel or the cell phone. I've done nothing in my life that will live on without me. All i can do is touch as many people as i can in a positive way, until my last breath.

This song has so much meaning to me and my life. It's an anthem of sorts. Very hokey i know, but the words are so true. This song has got me through some really hard times and i sing it LOUD and find meaning in these words.

Isn't life just living, existing, reaching out to others in need, to each other, trying to be a good friend, bringing a smile to someone's face, a laugh, a moment in time that we all know we are not alone here deep in our hearts. A journey of becoming the best we can be....just....climbing. In this world, in this life, it's really all we have...

Is that worthless in the big picture?

I sincerely pray, with all of my heart, it's not.

And Love absolutely is the point...thank you Contessa for your sharing about the importance of sharing the love you feel to your family and friends...I have learned this lesson the hard way. Now I write, speak, and show my love to my family and my friends. As you've said, "Love all you can..." and I do.

This is a great documentary that teaches just that.
Sometimes, we are unsure of our surroundings, teachings,

in order to bring what we feel is true to the surface.

Enjoy! :)
