There Goes Mercury Retrograde Again!

Three to four times a year, Mercury goes retrograde. Retrograde to an astrologer means that the planet looks like it is going backwards. This is due to the length of its orbital path compared to the Earth's.

To some it would seem that during this period, communications break down. Mechanical things go awry. Creativitity takes an inward turn.

This thread is to alert you to the upcoming Mercury retrogrades if you are someone who does believe that it can be a bit messy during Mercury's little backward stroll around our planet.

If you are not someone who thinks this, that's okay too. There are plenty of threads to start about how you are NOT affected by Mercury's retrograde. :D

The 2010 Mercury Retrogrades are:

December 26, 2009 at 21 Capricorn
Mercury turns direct January 15, 2010 at 5 Capricorn

Mercury turns retrograde April 18 at 12 Taurus
Mercury turns direct May 11 at 2 Taurus

Mercury turns retrograde August 20 at 19 Virgo
Mercury turns direct September 12 at 5 Virgo

Mercury turns retrograde December 10 at 5 Capricorn
Mercury turns direct December 30 at 19 Sagittarius

All the retrogrades this coming year (including the one that starts on Saturday of this week) are in Earth signs. This year's were in Air.

Based on the day I had yesterday, I would have voted that it started earlier. *grin*

NJFemmie 12-22-2009 12:05 PM

It might as well as gone retro last week ... I've ordered some packages, and they aren't here yet, even though they were expected last week.... (but I know it's because of Christmas... ) but, on that note - retrograding Mercury is NOT good for snail-mailing either.

And ... avoid any critical thinking during this retrograde.

.... just adding my astrological 2 cents.

Mitmo01 12-22-2009 12:15 PM

Ive def noticed the last two retrogrades, weird communication errors at work and in my personal life lol

hopefully this one wont be so wonky

Just_G 12-22-2009 12:18 PM

I am still not a believer of this retrograde phenomenom. If you (the general you) tell people they are going to have a bad week, and they get it in their head they are going to have a bad week, then they will in fact, have a bad week.

I have heard people use the phrase: "oh, mercury must be in retrograde this week" because something bad happened. I think it is all in a lot of people's heads sometimes...lol

Not that I am making fun of people who believe in it....I am simply saying that I do NOT believe in it. If I am having a bad week, I simply blame it on the fact that I am not projecting enough positive energy or thoughts into that part of my life....or that I need to step back, take a deep breath, then move on.

Andrew, Jr. 12-22-2009 12:33 PM

Yes, I believe in this. It is in paranormal literature too. I have a sense it is coming...and it won't be pretty. :cards:

LadyFlamezzz 12-22-2009 12:35 PM

A believer...and i see Pisces is free and clear for a while...thank the heavens,lol

NJFemmie 12-22-2009 12:36 PM

It's astrological.
You cannot avoid it.
You don't have to believe in it, but it affects everyone regardless of what they believe.

It's coming to get you.

Run.

*chuckle*

While my brain does slosh around at different levels from time to time...I blame the beer:beerbros:, not retrograde! Perhaps it is all the beer that I consume that balances out this retrograde thingy! :winky: Hm, might have to do an experiment!!:bucktooth:

I'm with June. I used to believe it was just so much hogwash, but then I noticed there were times of the year where EVERYBODY I knew was having trouble... it was so puzzling! Years of this went by before I heard about Mercury Retrograde, and sure enough... it was retrograde during the shared hard times...

Don't have to hit me more than once with that 2x4 before I pay attention....

UofMfan 12-22-2009 02:25 PM

As a Virgo I feel Mercury's retrograde pretty strongly. All my communication suffers, my internet is always down, my phones die, and I could go on and on, it is not pretty.

I just realized a booked a trip for the 26th, what was I thinking?!

NJFemmie 12-22-2009 02:54 PM

I don't think Virgo's are known for being gluttons for punishment.
But then again, no two Virgos are alike.
Perhaps that day will be the exception as opposed to the rule.

WolfyOne 12-22-2009 03:27 PM

I'm not looking forward to it....I think I'm already getting a prelude to it. If I had a place to run and hide until it blew over, I would.

Ha, thats true, I come from a family of Virgo Vacuumers!

when is the madness over?

lillith 12-22-2009 04:13 PM

Mercury retrograde has made its presence known in my life. I have been more incapable of expressing my thoughts in a direct manner. Over the last couple of days, I have stumbled over my words and wondered if I could have been more eloquent, would there have been different outcomes. I am normally able to say exactly what I want to say, but damned if these last few days things have come out wrong.

Sighs....

lillith

UofMfan 12-22-2009 04:34 PM

I hate to vacuum.

NJFemmie 12-22-2009 04:43 PM

I love to vacuum. I'm a Leo (with no Virgo in my chart, other than a distant planet.)

Arwen 12-23-2009 12:57 AM

FWIW, I think G has a very very good point here.

It is a key ingredient in good Voodoo magic. You tell the person you are casting a hexing spell on them. This is done in clever little ways by leaving a bent spoon on the property or something like that (note: I don't know that it is a bent spoon but that came to mind just now. I am very tired.)

Then every little thing that goes wrong gets tied back in your mind to the
HEX even though it's just plain bad luck. Or is it?

Hard to tell because we do call bad things into our lives by our ideas, I think. If you think negative thoughts, negativity finds a roosting spot and then spreads.

So...it's a balance. I know for myself that Mercury Rx always does fun things in terms of how I can communicate with other people. Working in the tech world where I have to talk/type to folks, it's a real bear!

But, as a writer, it's great energy for editing and reworking stories. It's perfect for poring over every critical little detail. I use it as a reminder to slow down and pay attention to the fine print in all things.

So use the information for what you will but don't discount the power of suggestion!

It's one of the way a good con artist psychic can take you to the cleaners in a heartbeat. :soapbox::rant:

And that's one of my biggest pet peeves in the psychic world. :)

My theory is that if you have Mer Rx in your natal (birth) chart, you may deal with Mer Rx better. Grin, I am at best a rank amateur at astrology.

Here is a list of when Mercury was Direct or Retro. Let me know if you will. :)

Mercury had just gone direct by two days before I was born. :) My theory is probably FULL of holes. hee

NotAnAverageGuy 12-29-2009 10:51 PM

Missed me by 12 days

weatherboi 12-29-2009 11:03 PM

Now I know why world peace never seems to fall into place...damn Mercury and its retrograde!!

It was Direct for me.

*shrug*

I still had a horrible time with communication the past couple of days, but I think it's getting better. Normally, technology messes with my head during Retrograde. :computer:

If I am reading the chart correctly, Mercury went retrograde four days after my birth. I can't honestly say if I notice the bad stuff that happens during retrograde. However, I usually have a very sunny/positive outlook on life.

As an astrologer, this can go either way.
It depends on other astrological influences - both natal and daily.

Those born with Merc Rx probably already know they have a tendency to say the wrong things, or not make themselves clear - the best thing to do is really make an effort to stop and think before 'speaking'.

Depending on what sign your Mercury is in, it doesn't have to be retrograding in order to feel these same effects.

Question

Does the blue moon intensify the effects of what is going on right now?

christie 12-30-2009 08:32 AM

You mean I have two more weeks of this bullshit???

Ya'll best pray or something for all those in my crosshairs... or keep a bail fund handy.

Arwen 01-10-2010 07:19 PM

Is it January 15th yet?

Swear to Gods, customers are just bonkers right now. Had a guy tell me he was going to report me because he sent his good sim card back and kept the deactivated one.

Um, darlin? We really mean it when we say we can't reactivate the darn things. Once they are dead, they are really really really dead. And no, I can't call the post office and demand that they return your telephone. And yes, I understand that this is a huge inconvenience.

But honestly, the 45 minutes you spent berating me and accusing me of criminal activity could have been spent in your car going to the store to fix your problem.

Just saw this. I would have to say that no it does not. The moon tends to affect us on an emotional basis. So, I'd have to say no. Again, I'm no astrologer. :) Sounds like NJFemmie may be though!

This retrograde has been SHIT for me!!!!

Usually, I get a hassle with the electronic and computer stuff but this time, my personal communications with many close to me has gone to Hell in a decorated handbasket, let me tell you.

I am also ready for it to be OVER! :spider:

You can always plead the fifth and take up crocheting until it's over.
I could use a new scarf. *cough*
