Masters of Sex
Anyone watching this show? Thoughts about season 2 thus far?
Can I just say Lizzy Caplan is hawt....and a good actress :). I remember her being in Mean Girls lol. |
Oh yes! We both love the show.
I fell for Lizzie in her brief run on True Blood, in the early days of the show, when it was still good. She is a fantastic actress and all of her feelings just flit across her face. Her pain is there for anyone to see, even when she hides it under a tumble of words. She is amazing and brilliant. |
Started to watch the show tonight. Yes, Lizzy Caplanis amazing, actually she and Betty are the most interesting part of it.
Masters was a cold bastard |
I wouldn't mind one of those dildoes, though
|
so, Beau Bridges is a closet case?
|
actually, as it goes on it is very powerful. Will we find out more about his relationship with his mother? was there sexual abuse? Going to bed will continue tomorrow

The research and history part of the show is interesting. As well as the way women were treated in academia during this time. Virginia Johnson certainly had some balls. |
Love this show but....
I didn't get the" jest" of last weeks show at all! I have loved all the other episodes so maybe it's just a fluke! I haven't watched last night episode yet but plan to shortly.
|
sorry, still on season 1

I don't want to do any spoilers in case folks are still catching up. |
no spoilers

I love Michael Sheen as Dr. Masters even though his character is a complete ass. His range as an actor is amazing. Hard to believe he's Lucian from Underworld.
|
I do. Its shown here in the UK on a normal cable channel at ten in the evening with commercials. Is all the sex and stuff cut out? Nope. Welcome to british tv after nine pm. Better known as the watershed period.
I do really like Masters of Sex and Michael Sheen is fab in the role. I do really love how they have done the gay storyline. Buy the book. The book is also really fab. |
Finished 1st season. Glad I stuck it out.
|
1st episode of season 2 and this guy Masters is clearly a scary guy. And Virginia is very complex. She reminds me of Kate Winslet who I find incredibly hot

Oh OK thank you very much for the information, greatly appreciated!
|
*Bump*
Masters of Sex back on next Sunday night, 9/11/16, |
This season has been great so far!
|
I just loved how Libby told (demanded) ex-hubby go down on her!
It's about time! Virginia has bugged the heck out of me this season. It is really a great show. |
What cracked me up was the receptionist running into an old "client"! They really need to use her more, her comic timing is priceless:hangloose:
|
This show has been cancelled unfortunately! It ended with them getting married!

I went online to look up when Masters of Sex and The Affair were coming back for their new seasons and found this article on Variety: UPDATED: “Masters of Sex” has aired its last episode. The Season 4 finale on Nov. 13 will also function as the series finale, as Showtime will not be moving ahead with a fifth season. Showtime confirmed with the following statement to Variety: “‘Masters of Sex’ was a beautifully written and acted exploration of America’s changing sexual mores. We are incredibly proud to have shared the story of Masters and Johnson for four critically-acclaimed seasons. The series will remain available across our platforms where new viewers can discover it for years to come.” The fourth season of the Sony Pictures TV series ended on a fairly conclusive note, with sex research pioneers Bill Masters (Michael Sheen) and Virginia Johnson (Lizzy Caplan) finally tying the knot. The show was a strong performer for Showtime initially, garnering critical praise and several Emmy and Golden Globe nominations (and a win for guest actress Allison Janney in 2014), and attracting around a million linear viewers per episode. But linear ratings for the fourth season had dipped to the 450,000 range, and, sources say, the producers had told the story they wanted to tell. (Total viewership across all platforms was an average of 2.16 million for Season 4, though comparisons to Season 1 are difficult, because Showtime became available as a standalone streaming service in 2015.) The series began at the close of the 1950s, with Masters and Johnson coming together to research the science of sexuality, a topic considered taboo. The story wound its way through the free-loving 1960s before entering the even trippier 1970s in the now-final season. Michelle Ashford served as showrunner and executive producer, having developed the series based (somewhat loosely) on Thomas Maier’s biography of the same name. Sarah Timberman, Carl Beverly, Amy Lippman, and Judith Verno also executive produced for Timberman/Beverly, Sony Pictures TV, and Showtime. http://variety.com/2016/tv/news/mast...le-1201930270/ |
