Wanted to be the first!

A big hello from the land of maple syrup, poutine, hockey and any other canucky clichés!! (like canadian beacon, can someone please tell me what the hell is canadian beacon ??? )

Well, I wanted to be the first canuck to post in the Canada Forums... (and a french-canuck mind you ROFLOL) :p

Laters, tourlou, à plus, etc...

I don't know what a Canadian Beacon but Canadian Bacon is a thin slice of ham (thicker than regular bacon). It may or may not have been rolled in ground yellow pea meal (sometimes called peameal bacon).

I'm an wayward Canadian Anglophone-Acadian (who understands more french than he let's on) living in the US.

Softhearted 11-12-2009 12:02 PM

Maudite marde ! I knew that I should have used the dictionary... bacon not beacon (slapping myself on the forehead.... I'm a real "gougoune" at times!!!) Thank you for the answer Linus !!!

Ooops, I hope you don't mind the "frenglish" :)

Linus 11-12-2009 12:05 PM

I grew up on "frenglish". I think it's my mothertongue (largely due to being in a family of bilingual Acadians who flip back and forth like it's normal).

The_Lady_Snow 11-12-2009 01:13 PM

Just popping in to say hello to all of my Canadian friends. It's no secret I have Canadian envy. I am an American that has wished so many times that my country could be a little more like your country.

Go Canada in the 2010 Winter Olympics. :canada:

Too funny! I used to live two blocks away from Atolville, and visited clients in McLeods. Small world indeed!

Now, you're going to have to be more specific than that! I've driven by Edmuston (in the Republic of Madawaska) ;) dozens of times!
Do you know the story of the "Republic of Madawaska"?

I'm in southern New Brunswick now, and I'm afraid that my French is going to be so rusty that nobody is going to be able to understand a word I say!
