Log cabin build, nice to have heavy equip help but you can manage w/o it if you have a partner and you don't mind the process being a great deal slower..during one of my summers helped a friend w building a small log cabin ....peeling logs, pier block foundation, anchoring logs, chinking..etc etc..

not a fan of notched style joinery especially with logs, i prefer the butt method and using rebar to secure the logs together..you're just asking for trouble if you notch a log on both sides..logs get wet and once you cut into the soft core of a log rot can set in quick and your join may not last 20 years....i'm not a carpenter but i come from a long line of carpenters in my family tree, boat, finish, cabinetmakers..so i have sawdust in my bones and a love for trees...maybe someday, i will build my log cabin..

i've posted from this Carpenter before but building a log cabin using only hand tools(from the beginning) will be exciting to watch...and i want to build a small one someday..high in the mountains near a stream..

experimenting with making my own wood butter..it's so expensive so i've made my first batch and the consistency is like a paste..not exactly what i was going for but it's more protective and should last longer then what i am currently using..used it on a few things and i think i like it..we'll see https://149358889.v2.pressablecdn.co...ood-butter.jpg
