Melbourne 2012 butch/femme ball with Ivan Coyote?

Just saw this in another forum, but I can find no other information, can anyone please please help me?

Specifically I want to find out about the ball itself; the date, venue and cost.

**Overwhelmed with excitement my little heart is going to leap out of my chest!:eatinghersheybar:

According to Ivans twitter there will be three solo shows from 17th - 19th of May. No idea about a ball though EDIT: Apparently there will be the butch/femme ball on the Saturday (this is from Ivans Facebook)

Unfortunately the Pointless Sofa seems to be one of the few options available for those of us who have grown too old for the club scene, and who have no intention of joining a sports team. Mind you, the only reason I gave them my hard earned money was because a well meaning friend insisted I sign up after a recent romantic disappointment. Mostly it's been a waste of time (and money).

I think the sofa has its uses, though I tend to go back and forth between liking it and loathing it.

One profile I deleted after accusing them of being "classist"...Perhaps not one of my finer moments. The comment was spurred on by one of their descriptions regarding subscription rates, which suggested something to the effect of "cheaper than a big night out."

I started a new profile recently and was afforded the benefits of the trial membership, so I was able to send some messages. Lined up a few meetings, so I am pleased about that.

I've found it difficult to connect with people on the sofa, not sure if it is me or the place. I'm not great at small talk and you seem to get such a short window of opportunity to connect and I mustn't make the best of it. And I'm sure my age is against me, 47 year old femme's aren't number one on the wanted list. Even with the older butches.

I often find that there are simply never enough butch women around, femmes always seem to outnumber butches.

Sad that.

Not that I don't appreciate my femme sisters, but if I need an engine tune up, I am not going to ask another femme.

haha "You're terrible Muriel"

I agree, pointless sofa. Once the trial period is up there is no use for it and the cost of subscribing is disgusting. Totally glad to be here and to find some Aussie friends :)

Ha and I always thought there were more butches than femmes! :hangloose:

I find the bullying on the sofa totally reprehensible, and I really don't think the admins do enough. I guess once they have your money though don't really care.
There always seems to be a dearth of the ones we are looking for! I'm still trying to find more b/f people here in Sydney. I don't have the time or energy to manage an event much as I'd like there to be something similar to the Melbourne monthly drinks.

This has turned into a convo about pink sofa, But I am okay with that.

It was actually from Pink Sofa that I learned about transphobia. I was shocked to hear that trans members were feeling discriminated against at pinksofa. :annoyed:

And from there I made a point of becoming as educated as possible about trans issues.

The PS is actually notorious for mishandling of trans issues, for both MTF & FTM. People have been bullied relentlessly until they feel they have no choice but to leave. And I don't know what the admin team did if it was able to get to that stage. There's also periodic b/f baiting with the terminally boring "who do you have to chose a label" whine.

Good on you for educating yourself about trans issues. Sad thing is it's not people like you who need the educating, but the bullies.
