Today was interesting.

I woke before 7am and couldn't get back to sleep so I opted to go visit the gym, sure that I'd be alone in my early morning Easter endeavors.

Just as I got to the gate around the corner from the fitness center, a bunny jumped out of the bushes and zipped past me.

Yes, the Easter bunny tried to give me a heart attack.

Then I got dive bombed by a dove.

Second heart attack attempt of the day and all within seconds of one another.

Then I got into the gym and completed my workout. I kept it simple since it's been a while since I've hopped on ye ole treadmill. One hour with slowly increasing increments of speed and incline. Towards the end of it, I was definitely working up a sweat.

Heart attack attempt three?

Eh, so that's my excitement for the day I hope.

Happy bunnicula day!

I am back on the beach. It's hard to believe how much damage can be done by two weeks of being sedentary.

I wonder how long it will take to get back to where I was?

Doesn't really matter, I am so glad to be back out. :cheesy:

Congrats on being back on the beach!

I may have missed something, so forgive me if you covered this already but why were you sedentary if you did not want to be? I understand the beach is your preferred workout and that there was something going on that prohibited you from enjoying it for a couple of weeks but there are plenty of other places to walk too.

I'm lost.

Happy whatever you call today day!

Sorry for the info gap. :)

Two weeks every spring the beach is closed for "erosion control", bulldozers push stuff back where it is supposed to be according to parks dept, and two weeks later mother nature puts it back where she wants it. An expensive and pointless tug-of-war. Mother nature always wins.

As far as other places go, I can't do hard surfaces anymore (blown shocks) and don't have a membership anywhere with an elliptical, the other option, so I just wait it out.

The older I get, the more I realize that sittin' around just doesn't work out well.

Viva la Beach!!!!

My ideal exercises _ got to do one today!

Thanks to the warmer day here in urban N.E. Jersey, I got to ride my bike in the park and weave through the walkers (no bike path here), who were very accommodating (I live around very sweet people). With my music in my ears and the wind in my face and my body and bike as one pumping machine....almost perfection!! Did five miles at 7 per hour, so don't picture me as a female Lance without the enhancers. I started to stitch up because it's been so long since I've been breathing hard in the cool air and exercising. I'm sure that stitch will pass (what causes that, btw?)

Biking and swimming are my two top ones! Because I have slight (very slight, thank you Universe) knee-impact issues they are the best! Since I don't belong to a gym with a pool, I'll have to wait for that one when Kooch and I are back in Lakewood on some weekends after Labor Day.

Thanks for starting the thread! It's a good one.

Hi nycfembbw!
Considering I have had a severe case of torn chest muscles since December. Worst pain I have ever known. I started light duty exercise today. They will never heal if I don't quit doing normal for me. All the Pulmonary Specialist said was you will be in a lot of pain for a long time and please, please do not use that dewalt 20 volt max cordless reciprocating saw until you are totally well. It vibrates very hard. This demolition saw is so powerful, it will knaw through anything. Oh, so sweet! I could tell you some stories about it. I have been using my craftsman 6 AMP corded one. The doc made no mention of that one. She only said the cordless one. I think I just got some understanding and acceptance about it this weekend.

Today I have been very slowly organizing my lumber and painting plywood panels. My new lawnmower needs a waterproof home. Leaving to pick it up shortly. I'm so excited. This time I got high wheels in the back. :) Fun!

Happy day to you, nycfembbw!
Brock

My 'Happy Bunny-land Day' got off to a late start because I didn't get home until early this morning. I worked a concert venue last night.

The only thing I have planned for today is going to a BBQ this evening:
but to get there, I have to walk about 40 blocks after getting off the train. Getting there is easy (going downhill), but coming back I have to walk uphill.

But it's another gorgeous day here and I'm loving the sunshine and how warm it feels (about 70 degrees).

I chose not to workout today even though I should have. I decided to wait until tomorrow because I received a disturbing letter in the mail. It's amazing how some people can perceive a situation so differently.

Hollylane 03-31-2013 04:15 PM

Hiking to a new fishing spot, packing in and carrying out gear, and the (now) usual 1.5 mile (that is all the little short boy can handle) brisk walk with Obi.

Maybe if I write it here, I'll be accountable.

I've belonged to an inexpensive, no whistles and bells gym since November but got way off track :(. They have a program called Activetrax, in which you get a daily workout, alternating body parts-it's fun to increase strength and you get a neat little calendar of your progress. But I'm queen of excuses.

So, tomorrow, 1 April, I start over. Besides, with summer and Reunion coming up, I think I can do a lot of good over that time. Although just doing it for health and long-term counts more, I'm one of those who likes to have future events for motivation.

1.5 hours at the gym on a nice quiet Easter Sunday morning (elliptical, abs, weight lifting, stretching), then home for some good old-fashioned sex :D

Today's workout (which is also my favorite): a mix of walking and trail running.

I have gotten into the Zombies Run! app. It gives you a story line and also uses a mix of your own playlist in the app. It's fun to listen to, if you're into that kind of thing. Although, I must say that if you run in an isolated area like I do, hearing people scream "RUN RUN RUN!!!" at you through your headphones, along with yelling and moaning zombies...the first time or two you use the app will freak you out a little. Or....maybe I'm just becoming very easily spooked these days!! LOL

Had a great time at the BBQ last night, but did not end up walking too much - friends picked me up, once I got out to the West Hills.

It's my day off today; so I plan to go swimming, then relax in the hot tub. There are trails around the recreation center, so I will probably warm up my muscles by doing a little bit of stretching and walk a trail, before I go swimming.

Yah baby!!!

Ginger 04-04-2013 07:29 PM

Tonight I added a few stationary weight machines to my routine at the gym, a couple upper-body ones, and one where you stand, lean forward on a padded block and push with one leg at a time backwards, so that it is extended behind you. It feels like I would imagine water ballet feels. ("Ballet" sounds inflated but I don't know what else to call it.)

While I was waiting for one of the ab machines, I talked to a woman who told me she's 59, and had been away from the gym for a couple years and was just getting back into it. But she has a boyfriend, 37, who keeps her young. She's french/Spanish, and he's Jamaican, 6'4" and has two kids of his own.

I've found that since I stopped wearing headphones at the gym, I have a lot more conversations with people.

This is so true. When I am at the beach I don't wear headphones and I also don't wear sunglasses unless I am walking right into the sun. I think that the fact I am alone also makes me more approachable. People will stop and strike up conversation all the time. I have made a lot of friends just by not blocking them out or being too absorbed with my own thing. I think what you are doing is great!

I am attempting, for the 3rd time, p90x. I always get to the yoga day, the 4th day, and get defeated. That day hurts me so much I can never get past it. But THIS time I monitored myself and didn't put myself down for not doing all that they do in the video.
I Now got to day 5!!!!!
Hopefully I shall continue!!

Hollylane 04-04-2013 09:00 PM

30 minutes on the dreadmill at an incline, 30 minutes of weights, 2 miles with Obi(the little guy was a trooper tonight!).

I had planned to do my favorite video tonight, Hip Hop Abs, but I have to run back to the office, so it will have to wait until tomorrow.
