A friend posted the link to this article on her Facebook, and I decided to post it here because it's very well written. I love, love, love that the author advocates "acceptance, not tolerance." Bravo!

It's great... but I just got smacked in the face by reality. On my DVR is an episode of "Lockup," featuring a transgendered 21 year old man who legally changed his name from Katie to Braydon. He was arrested because he was on a date with a girl who understood Braydon to be male, and when they started fooling around and she found that Braydon didn't have male genetalia, she freaked and charged him with sexual assault.

Bad enough, but what is REALLY pissing me off is that the narrator of "Lockup" keeps referring to Braydon as "she," as do the prison guards.

GRRRR.
