HBO's "Game Change"
Did you see it???
What did you think about it?? Okay, I'll start off. I watched it twice last night, the second time to actually watch what was going on because I was so mesmerized by the utter stupidity of Sarah Palin (and OH MY, did Julianne Moore do a spectacular job of playing Sarah Palin!!). I don't see how John McCain can ever hold his head up in political circles again. I really don't. To choose someone like Palin as a running mate for the second highest office in the land without spending more than 5 days to vet them, and then they turn out to be as uneducated and uninformed as the almost cartoonish Palin?? What an embarrassment to a figure like Mr. McCain, whom I have totally respected in the past (but don't really like, as a politician). Ed Harris was simply magnificent in portraying John McCain, complete with the way McCain holds his injured shoulders. McCain was portrayed as an almost sympathetic character and several scenes showed his desire of wanting to run a campaign with integrity and honesty.....and then the disaster that was Sarah Palin. The movie was phenomenal, as far as I'm concerned. Although Palin has come out and denounced it as "mostly a work of fiction", the producers interviewed something like in excess of 25 people who were directly connected and regarded as "insiders" during the 2008 McCain/Palin presidential campaign. They have strongly asserted that the movie is "historically accurate". So, let's discuss!!! Did anyone else see it?? I hate when they produce these kinds of movies and only offer them to paid subscribers, but these movies are, most of the time, very controversial and I'm not sure that the general media market would be very inclined to show them on regular television programming. What a shame!!!! HBO also did this same thing with "The Pacific" and "Band of Brothers", though "Band of Brothers" was eventually shown on cable television on non-subscription channels. I hope that HBO eventually does this with "Game Change", too, but I'm not holding my breath on that one. ~Theo~ :bouquet: |
Haven't seen it, as I don't have HBO, but it sounds interesting.

I haven't seen it yet but will this week.
I would remind all of us that this is HOLLYWOOD so they will not be kind to her. |
I watched it............and I laughed through most of it because those guys looked so dumb-founded at just how uneducated she is and how unteachable she is. They all sooooo fucked-up. They broke the cardinal vetting rules. It's also really scary because if 1/4 of that is true..................geeeezzzzzzzzzzzzz did we ever dodge a big bullet.....
I thought they were way too nice when it comes to McCain. They also completely side-stepped how mean-spirited and hateful Palin is.....they just kinda hinted at it. |
Mr. Smith said it was all true. MSNBC Lawrence O'Donnell.
We haven't dodged the bullet yet, she is still pontificating her sub par education on the rest of us. |

Interesting.....the actual title of the book is
Game Change Obama and the Clintons McCain and Palin and the Race of a Lifetime So it seems HBO took the part of the book about McCain and Palin and made it a movie. The book may be non-fiction, however the point of movies is entertainment and I look at this movie as entertainment with some truth/accuracy. Schmitt said it was accurate so I take it with a grain of salt. The dodged bullet is Palin could have been a 72 yr old heartbeat (McCain) away from being President. May all the political hacks and king makers remember to always properly vet a candidate before picking them to be VP or anything for that matter. Two questions about domestic or foreign policy would have eliminated her. Once they knew, they could have done the right thing and removed her and found a suitable VP candidate. It speaks volumes to the staffer's (Schmitt, et al) integrity....well lack of integrity. Winning is not more important than anything else. I might feel sorry for her....she was clearly out of her league........if she was not such a mean, hateful, spiteful human being. edited to ad.......she is pretty much fading into the background now....even fox is not so enamored with her anymore... |
great movie!
That was a really awesome movie, I have to say. It left me regaining a small shred of the respect I used to have for John McCain. He should have just stuck with Lieberman. I think he would have lost no matter who he chose.
