I am in tears...

for the first time in over a year and a half, my ancient newfoundland dog ate out of a bowl instead of out of my hand.

She has dementia so twice a day, every day I have either been offering her wet food by my hand or on a spoon...she just could not remember how to eat out of a bowl. She even lost the ability to eat from my hand and spoon also a few times and each time I thought I was going to have to put her down because I would not starve her to death...and yet, something made her synapses spark back up and she would start to eat out of my hand or spoon.

but today, out of nowhere, she dipped her nose into the can and licked it...my eyes got huge..so I went and got a bowl, put chunks of wet food in it and laid it in front of her..and coaxed her..it took her a few times..but she ate the whole can that way in the bowl....

good god...I never thought I would see her do that again...

it might not stay, this might be a fluke, it doesnt matter..what matters is that today, she ate from a Big Dog bowl!
