I get what you are saying, Greyson, and I've thought that a few times myself. We may have talked about this between ourselves at one point as well. In this particular circumstance, do you see any other words other than 'spends' or 'speedy' that could be used to back out of 'spendy'?

I don't.

When I post a word, I make sure that I have at least one brand new word that hasn't been used recently in mind that could be built off of what I post. If I can't think of one, I choose another word. For me, the goal is to keep building and keep the flow of the thread going. For some, I think they see it as a challenge to post the hardest words possible. That kind of thinking backs us into a corner where we are forced to use words that have just been used in order to back out from that word and go in another direction.

I agree with you about using words over and over again, especially in this thread, where we have 6 letters to work with but I disagree that CCB had any other options available to her other than 'speedy' or 'spends'. I looked at it last night and didn't see any other options. I opted to let the thread stall. CCB opted to use a word that was recently used just to get back into the flow of things. Some words are just really hard to work with. I think if folks kept that in mind, maybe it would be easier for all of us to use new and fresh words going forward.
