yay! a thread for crows :)
i was in the deepest, most amazing slumber until the phone sounded. the person telephoning had no qualms about getting me up at such an awful hour! then, once i 'came round' he fell asleep! on the phone. snoring even!
so, i thought i'd post to this thread since i am, after all, awake.
chipmunks too.
the eastern cottontail can be found statewide, and will devour just about anything green with their huge incisors. they really are important prey species in the food chain.
crows are omnivorous, and during spring months, they have to feed their young. Journal of mamma logy, crow predation upon nestling cottontails, by Charles m. Kirkpatrick describes quite in detail, if interested, how important nestling cottontails are important part of the food of nestling crows. [something noteworthy here: rabbits are not usually taken by crows earlier than june or later than april, which is related to spring season.]
