One of the career's I miss most, and most likely always will, is my former career as a hair stylist. For over 25 years, depending on which client I saw the most, and depending on private conversations between myself and said client, I would reveal something entirely unknown about myself to them, but only if my "secret" would help them see that I had first hand knowledge of the struggle they faced, so they'd know they weren't alone.

I know that when I revealed particular 'secret' aspects about myself, in such a manner to the ones who were lucky to learn about those types of proverbial secrets, it made a difference in their lives, as well as my own, and of course, they most nearly always became a long-standing return client for hair services.

Sometimes revealing my secrets is cathartic. And sometimes revealing secrets about my life to others is simply an act of loving kindness.
