The Color of Your Eyes
It seemed like time had stopped,
The moment I heard your lively heartbeat.
I imagined your sweet, innocent smile,
Your tiny hands and tiny feet.
My heart filled with so much love,
Dreams of a future so near.
When I could hold you in my arms,
And chase away any fears.
I could make out your sweet tiny toes,
As you kicked from inside my skin.
I felt every roll and every hick-up,
From my miracle baby, within.
I counted down the days and nights,
Until my little boy would be born.
When you would be nestled in my loving arms,
Where I would hold you and keep you warm.
I loved you before I knew you,
I will love you until the end of time.
You're my sparkling shooting star,
For you, the sun does shine.
I never expected you would be taken,
Your life ending before your first breath.
Your birth was meant to be joyful,
Not associated with your death.
You passed through my life so quickly,
Leaving me feeling such love for you, and such pain.
When I think of what should have been,
Mine eyes continue to pour like the rain.
I think about you every waking moment,
How much by now you would have grown.
How I'd wrap my arms around you,
Not be sitting here alone.
Know that Mommy loves you,
You are my rainbow in the skies.
I'll never forget the sweetness of your face,
Never knowing the color of your eyes.
For my son...
