Arrow Living the Life of a Trucker's Wife

Living the Life of a Trucker's Wife

When you are a trucker's wife
You lead a very different life
From that of other women you know
Your husband comes and then he goes

While some might shake their heads and say
To live like that, no way, no way!
A trucker's wife is one who knows
Living this life is the best way to go

We all get lonely sometimes, no doubt
Sometimes we cry, sometimes we shout
Things do get rough when we're on our own
But all we must do is pick up the phone

Our hubbies are there at the end of the line
Telling us things will be just fine
So we calm down and say "okay"
What did it matter anyway?

Sometimes we're sad to see them leave
A sigh of sadness we do heave
But then there's times when we have a smile
Peace and quiet, if just for awhile

Some of us value the time on our own
We actually enjoy being alone
The house is quiet, the house is tidy
We can spend the day in our jammies or nighty.

No one is here to judge what we do
To our own desires we can be true
Cereals for dinner, sure that's fine
No need for us to have candles and wine

Cleaning the tub, shaving our legs
Surely those things are things that can wait
Hubby is gone and we're making the most
Of living our lives while he drives coast to coast

We cook and clean whenever we please
When you're on your own, life is a breeze
The t.v. is ours to control as we wish
Maybe I'm glad that we got the Dish

A week or two of freedom is fine
Longer than that and we start to whine
Before we know it, he's headed home
Now it is ending, our time alone

But do we mind when it comes to an end?
Not when we get to see our best friend
Our lover, our hero, the light of our life
Will soon be pulling his rig in the drive

We get off the couch and put the bonbons away
Why didn't w e start cleaning yesterday?
Oh well, truly, not to worry
I've learned how to speed clean in quite a hurry

Of both worlds we have the best
We know that we've been truly blessed
It's just another day in the life
Of a woman who's known as a trucker's wife.
