Propofol
As a Nurse I can tell you about the medication that Michael's doctor used to help him "sleep". It was called Propofol. I worked in the ICU and we used it to sedate our patients who were on ventilators. Patients receiving this medication would remain in a light coma so they would not pull out their endotracheal tube, the tube connected to the machine that was helping them to breathe.
Nurses commonly called Propofol "Milk of amnesia" because it was a white liquid and patients usually didn't remember what happened during the time while they received it.
Now I am giving MY own opinion only, I do not know Michael's medical history or his tolerance to medication, but i believe Propofol to be an unwise choice of medication for sleep medication alone. It is a VERY strong medication and not one to be given without resuscitation equipment at hand.
