Default Halloween Memories vs Now

I remember when my brother and I would go out in our little neighborhood, I think I was about 5. We had these awesome HUGE masks of Indians. (they would probably be considered offensive now) but, we would always make a huge haul of candy, 3 or 4 grocery bags each. I was too shy to go to some houses so my brother came back, got my mask and my bag and went up to the house again so I could have that candy , what a good brother.

Now that I have kids of my own, I am afraid to take them into neighborhoods where I don't know anyone, there is always someone trying to hurt kids with tainted candy or razers in apples. Now we have to look for a nursing home or the church trick or treat events. I think it is sad, would love for my kids to experience just running around and going from door to door, it was so much fun!

Thanks for asking the question softness .
