Side note on the cooked squash thing;
steamed, too squishy
baked, too much work/electricity
I just nuke'em whole, poke it a couple of times with a fork. On high 6-8 minutes, let it sit 15-30, flip and repeat. Scoop out the good stuff, stays great in the fridge for days.
I've been known to forget it was sitting in the micro for half a day at a time. No harm done. Very forgiving stuff this.
Also good lots of other ways, herbs and such.
