Many good things can be said about duct tape, and you're right it doesn't get advertised. And I'm guessing it doesn't need to.
Antenna and most smaller parts I pick up at Radio Shack don't
Car parts - rims, transmissions, hoods and rotaries usually don't
Guns and cigarettes can't (and don't need to
Books rarely get advertised on TV, and when they do, I don't like/trust it.

Mine was duct tape, almost every house has one or two rolls of duct tape, its used for so many things including in murder case, to fixing broken toys
I myself dislike duct tape and tend to use gaff tape or fix whastever it is not just temporary it with tape.
But think about how many rolls you have at your home, workplace, car, boat, rv, and all that And you can buy it anywhere from a home imporovement center to walgreens to the quick corner store and in many colors.
