A friend in Austin posted yesterday that there was an assault against a transperson in Austin over the weekend, but I haven't found any info on the news yet. Does anybody know what happened?
While looking for this information, I also searched for follow-up info regarding Norma Hurtado. She and her mother Maria were shot dead by her girlfriend's father in Austin last year. I found a youtube memorial put up by the victims' son/brother:
She was a cute little baby butch and I emphasize *baby* because I think she was only 23. I know that being out carries a higher risk of death, but I think one of the most tragic things about this was that her mother was also shot. If I were to be shot for being gay, I'd have to say it was worth it to live life as who I am, but if somebody shot my mom because of my orientation - that's just a whole other level of heartbreak.
