So, I've been doing a lot more walking lately. And two weekends ago I went snowshoeing for the very first time (ow!). So far, it's been good and my blood sugar levels are getting better (I'm diabetic). My knee is hurting right now but I think it's because I just increased my exercise level over the last few weeks. I'm going snowshoeing again on Saturday because it's fun!
(and I'm crazy!)
The one thing I'm having a hard time with (and what I believe is ultimately, holding me back from losing weight) is the food thing. Mainly because 1) I hardly ever have groceries in my apartment, 2) I hardly ever cook at home, and 3) I'm LAZY when it comes to food. Granted, I eat healthier now than I used to. I can't remember the last time I had fast food! But I don't make the wisest choices when I'm at lunch for work or on my way home. My biggest vice lately? Chewy, sugar-coated candy like those orange slices or Peachie-Os. Which are like the WORST thing for me as a diabetic! Anyway, I have a whole list of Really Good Reasons why it's virtually impossible to eat well. But really? They're just excuses.
(Some valid. Some not.)
So...I'm going to start taking baby steps (again) and work on making better food choices. That means no more stops at 7-11 on the walk home from the bus stop. And less sugary snacks. I'm not going to completely omit them from my diet at this point, but maybe once a week instead of every day.
(Sooo embarrassing to admit!)
Wish me luck!
