I agree! Nothing ventured, nothing gained...just think, if you take the direct approach, you could save yourself all the time you are going to be spending hoping, wishing, dreaming. Let her/him/hym know how you feel! What's the worst that could happen? An "I'm flattered but no thanks"?? Who knows? The object of your crush may also be crushing on you...and it might lead to something wonderful...or it might fizzle out. But for me, even if it fizzled it would be infinitely better than never taking the chance at all.
