Folks, please do not mistake your snowshoes for frozen food while listening to the the bagpipes.

This message has been brought to you by the National Organization for Safe Consumption of Frozen Food While Listening to Bagpipes or NOSCFFWLB.
Thank you!

Yes, my friend really does need me, terribly so--she came over here and told Gryph and me about the aneurysm before she told anyone else, not just before she told her kids but even before she told her guy. We held her while she cried. It is SO SCARY, yanno? And her guy rushed right over (they're in an LDR, he lives in another country), but he isn't as strong for her as he wishes to be because he also is scared, as anyone would be to find this out right before they marry the love of their life. They're both so afraid that these few days are the only ones they'll get, that the aneurysm will pop and my friend will die... and it's a realistic fear.

I don't know why Gryph and I are able to put our fears aside to be strong for her, but Janey, I will always be grateful for this gift from the Universe: that she needs me, and I am able to be there for her.

She has tests next week--the doc wants to know everything he can about this aneurysm before surgery--and she's just dreading them. Her sister is a retired RN and has told her all the possible side effects for the contrast dye. Damn, a little discretion would have been a good thing, yanno? There are some things you just cannot prepare for, and all it does is scare my friend more.

So I might not be here so visibly right now, but I am here on the fringes, so to speak. I come to read this thread several times a week, and teh LOLZ thread, too, and I appreciate the smiles they bring more than I can say.

Love to y'all!!
Cath
It's best that the doc know what he's up against when they do go into surgery, but I understand her fears. Since the surgery seems to be so close to the time of diagnosis (just my feeling, that is), I guess your friend is not one those whose aneurysm would be fine to leave as is. Some folks have them for years and years before diagnosis and/or they pass from other issues, but I'm sure that thought would bring them little comfort.

It's good that her sis is in the medical field. Knowledge is power. One of my friends from high school had an aneurysm burst while driving. She wound up get smacked around about 5 times (she crossed the grass median into traffic after getting bumped from the car behind her when her car veered). Thankfully, other than the aneurysm, she had no serious injuries from the car accident.

She's fine, but she's different. Please know that after the surgery, the friend you know now may have personality changes. Amanda had been blonde but after her hair grew back in, she was brunette. She'd also been a bouncy, perky, mildly annoyingly chipper, cheerleader type personality before and now, frankly, she's a snipey bitch. But we still love her. It's just harder to like her. Good luck to her and you all.
