Lagunitas Brewery was supposed to have bbq smoked oysters yesterday, and I was going to stop on the way up here, but traffic was beyond awful. I have never seen it like that.

I went out to my local taco place, which is good, and which had, lo and behold some Lagunitas "Little Sumpin Sumpin" in bottles. Damn. That's a flavorful beer. It was kind of like technicolor going on after the Anchor Steam, which is a good beer and was perhaps the better choice after a hot drive.

Anyway, looking forward to tasting it and others on tap although if it's just as hot today I may forego the brewpub visit for a longer time at the river. More swimming or a brew pub. Hard decision. Looks like it's going to be a tough day.

This is an American wheat. Not much wheat flavor. That's fine with me. Bitterness -- thank god -- because the rest of it is all fruit. BIG citrus hoppy flavors. HUGE. A lot of sweetness too, but it doesn't overwhelm. Still it's not a fast drinker for me. I have to say for all this flavor, I was never startled. Not punched in the face. Someone up in Petaluma knows how to make beer. I am looking forward to trying the stouts.
