When my daughter was little I always made a "first day of school" cake. It was fun to celebrate the new school year. Also when I was little my mom took weekly cake decorating lessons. Every week we kids would enjoy her "lesson". My fav was the Barbie cake, which my two brothers balked at but ate anyway!
