I think it could be a rare form of sleep paralysis. Somehow your mind became detached from your body in your case, and hurled you pretty quickly back, making your breathing labored which is natural. The main feelings of being crushed, trapped, drowning, and asphyxia are forms of what science calls sleep paralysis.
