This issue is incredibly unsettling, to say the least... This economy has forced many people to abandon their animals; some do try to at least turn them over to shelters, etc. There seems to be a lot in the news related to the increase in horse/farm animal neglect, abuse, and death.

The fact that politicians fear changing the laws that dictate which animals are livestock and which are to be considered pets just irks me... It's a bunch of horseshit (an old term that I love)!
