A funny thing happened @ the beach today ....(it's funny now -cough-)
My brother and I were body surfing, the waves were gettin'gnarly, and fuckin'fun....however....earlier?
Before I threw off my flip flops, before I rejected a 5$ beach chair.....My Aunt, my mother, my 2 cousins, my Date......and my brother when I dive-bombed in the water....all of ém said "Take off your glasses & your necklace {I'm sure u see where this is going now}, I told each and every one of them Ï need to see the ocean, I want to see her again, I want to enjoy the beauty of it...and this isn't a necklace it's an Eleke.."
Yup...
I saw it....
At one point, I had everything all under control, I did my ritual prayers to Yemaya & Olokun{i forgot a few important ofrendas btw}, had fun ridin'the Waves, at one point I stopped....3 ladies, wearing....or barely wearing insanely itty bitty bikinis....I'm talkin' just a few patches with dental floss.....
My brother caught sight of it, and of course, we're standing there like 2 fucktarts that never saw a naked body{we both caught hell, but i digress}
What we didn't notice?
The water receding for a Big wave, behind us....
That shit caught us offguard to the point we ROLLED....I'm 5'9", my brother's 6' 2", when that wave decided to let us go..I thought we got in a riptide, and kissed my ass goodbye....
Gasping for air, spitting sand after plucking my face from the beach, everything was foggy, and my brother was about...a few yards away doing the same, and giggling.....
Me? I rubbed my face, and mumbled Öh fuck....fuckfuckfuck, i'm not gonna hear the end of this"
I checked my neck, and Eleke was there.....
I was puzzled briefly....
200$ pair of glasses? Somewhere in the Ocean now..{we searched for ém on shore}
5$ Sacred necklace? Safe and sound around my neck....
They were mildly sympathetic, mostly cuz I relied on touch and foggy shadows....
My hearing aids were safe in my jacket in the beachbag...
Everyone smirked....everyone.....even a cousin who wasn't even there when it happened, at dinner, he shows up in FedEx uniform and smiles ear to ear, and asks
