Default Weren't Perfect

When I was a little girl
All I wanted was to grow up
Be cool like my mother
For she surely knew it all

In my early teens
Reality started to set in
I could see all of her flaws
And it shook my world terribly

Those late teens were hell
For I thought I knew it all
I couldn't accept a word from her
Because she wasn't what I thought she should be

Being an adult was no better
Wanting nothing to do with her
Blaming her for everything wrong in my life
Though she is only human just like me

Years have passed
And her past has caught up with her
Now it is time to say goodbye
To a very human mother

I forgive you
Can you forgive me?
For wasting all those years of anger?
In all this time I never stopped loving you
I just couldn't accept you weren't perfect
