I have three or four MP3 players, mainly because I keep on losing them but they always turn up somehow. One of them was lost for a few years, but it just reappeared, and it's like a time machine. Songs I played over and over as I hiked for miles across vast expanses, back in the days when that was possible. I still walk (a LOT) but not like then.
The past several years have been a different kind of journey. And the MP3 player that I just found is like walking back into a different age, before several cognitive changes took place. A lot of feeling comes through to me in music. Part of my journey has been re-learning the gift of appreciating music. For a while, I lost the capability of comprehending lyrics, or remembering lyrics. Though I could recall every nuance of a tune, the words were lost someplace. Music became a cacophony, mere noise. But then I learned how to read the lyrics while listening to the songs, and in the process something else was regained - my own sure and clear voice, and audio clarity. I also regained the capacity to read and understand written and spoken words, and to convey at least a complete thought (if not perfect syntax). Sound ceased to be noise, and I could differentiate between a bird calling from far away and a plane flying overhead. Honestly, I would have rather been struck deaf than to have sounds competing in a mish-mash. No one will ever comprehend except for me, what a gift it is, that they no longer do. I know how blessed I am for this. This thread is for music coupled with the complete lyrics. Maybe someone else out there is trying to re-learn their own language (whatever that language may be) and could benefit from reading and listening along here. I would also like to see posts in other languages, but I am afraid if I post in anything other than my native language (english) I would not be sure if the lyrics were correct and do not wish to offend anyone by posting wrong lyrics. Anyone who can, is welcome to do so. I'm going to start this off, and I am fully aware I may be alone in this endeavor of trying to improve speech and language by using music and lyrics. That's okay! I'm just grateful for the space in which to do this. I'm probably going to use songs that may be considered "oldies" because it's what is more commonly found in my "long term memory banks"; women's music if I can find it, and lots of stuff from the "lost MP3 files." My first offering, from the lost MP3 files: Cris Williamson, from the album "The Changer And The Changed". I listened to this non-stop I first got it (using something called a "record player"). It was my introduction to "women's music" and I gathered quite an eclectic collection of various artists over the years. Unfortunately, not all of those artists have youtubes of their songs available. [nomedia="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMg5EuT3WuQ"]YouTube - Cris Williamson - Waterfall[/nomedia] Sometimes it takes a rainy day just to let you know everything's gonna be all right all right I've been dreaming in the sun won't you wake me up, someone I need a little peace of mind Wake me from this dream that I have dreamed so many times I need a little peace of mind Oh, I need a little peace of mind When you open up your life to the living All things come spilling in on you and you're flowing like a river, The Changer and The Changed you've got to spill some over spill some over spill some over, over all Filling up and spilling over it's and endless waterfall Filling up and spilling over over all Filling up and spilling over it's and endless waterfall Filling up and spilling over over all Like the rain falling on the ground like the rain falling all around Sometimes it takes a rainy day just to let you know everything's gonna be all right I know, I know I know all right Filling up and spilling over it's and endless waterfall Filling up and spilling over over all Filling up and spilling over it's and endless waterfall Filling up and spilling over over all oh ba ba ba ba... fade out (now, if i just knew how to make the youtube screen instead of the link...) |
