My Love

I do not love you for the way you look or what you wear
But rather for the way I feel when you’re not there.
I do not love you based on your family or friends
But on a promise to stick by you through all possible ends.
I love you for the way you make me feel inside
And how the devotion we share fills my soul with pride.
I love the little looks and smiles you give me everyday
And out of fear for the feelings I’ll have if you ever go away.
I love the way you chose to be yourself
And know that where your heart is, is your only true wealth.
You are the light at the end of my lonely tunnel.
Without you, I would be spiraling down life’s sad funnel.
You control my emotions and own my heart
I dread the days we have to spend apart.
So you see there is no way I could change my mind
For without you loneliness is all that I would find.
Material things don’t mean much to me
It’s the love in your eyes I want to see.
