Of all of Shakespeare's plays, this one for me ranks right up at there at the top - how Shakespeare should be played. This tragedy, directed by Trevor Nunn from 1979, has it all.
And the actors, omg!!! - what a cast! Judi Dench as Lady Macbeth - what can I say about her that isn't incredible, one of the best performances I have ever seen, scared the living daylights when I first saw her in this play. And, then there is Ian McKellen - known for his portrayal as Gandalf in The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, as well as Magneto in X-Men And, Roger Rees, whom we all remember from The West Wing. And, Ian McDiarmid, whom we all remember as Supreme Chancellor Palpatine from Star Wars Others too, who all became so famous. And they are all so young in this film. ![]() https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2xHlngY6Bgk ![]() |
