In 1429, on this day, Joan of Arc makes entry into Paris. In 1920, on this day, the 19th Amendment to the Constitution is officially ratified, giving women the right to vote. In 1970, on the 50th anniversary of women given the right to vote, there was a nationwide Women's Strike for Equality, led by Betty Friedan that called attention to unequal pay and other gender inequalities in America. |
