Some words from the dictionary of my province.
BALLYCATTER-ice hanging over the shore when the tide goes out, BRAZEN-Bold or without shame (that youngster is brazen) GIDDY-Dizzy GRAPNEL-A type of boat anchor PUNT-Long narrow flat bottom boat much like the Cajun pero. To many Mainlanders (From anywhere but NFLD)they have a hard time understanding the dialect as many people speak very quickly as well as different words coming from a mix of Irish and Scottish with English and a touch of French. |
