Old family photographs.
My niece gifted me four framed photos of my mother and sister. My sister, who was 9 y/o or so at the time, at the beach in a swim suit standing in the water. With another photo of mama posing in a 1940-ish Ford sedan. And soon Cousin Al will send me a hard drive of videos (film transferred to video) of family gatherings. Really looking forward to seeing that. My uncle was a photographer for the city's Black newspaper and looooooved taking photos and my family liked being photographed. It's nice and fun seeing loved ones at an earlier age but it's that connection to the past that moves me to the core. Lucky me.
