From what I've seen..
in True Blood, to kill vampires, U gotta pierce the heart{Smashing brains is usually for Zombies, no?}.... Stab Stab Vampire go Boom.... Recall when Jason's V-addicted treehugging g/f killed the hostage vampire? Also both times Bill killed a Vampire..Although this second one, I'm hazy, Im not sure if he stabbed in the heart, or in the skull... It was too fast, cuz he tried killing Russell as well and of course, it backfired Sophie's annoying, and for a Queen, she's really penny-pinching... I did have questions about her title, and the fact Eric is almost as old as Russell {with the exception of the now Toasted Godric} but under her command, which answered all my questions in one swoop when he choked her.... The Magister is pretty cool, self-righteous delusional prick, but cool...
