Midnight in Paris Kathy Bates, Adrien Brody, Carla Bruni, Rachel McAdams, Owen Wilson I am not a Woody Allen enthusiast but this movie was very entertaining. Only Allen could figure out how to weave a story of a modern man's search for direction in his life using the help of his heroes of the past including Hemingway, Fitzgerald, Stein, Cole Porter, Picasso, Dali, Ray, Bunuel, Toulouse-Lautrec, Gauguin, Degas. Kathy Bates played a perfect Gertrude Stein. And, he spun more than one memorable line. My favorite was calling the tea party republicans - "crypto-fascist airhead zombies". Definately will have to watch this one a few more times to appreciate all the imagery and symbolism it contains. |
