You know I've always wondered how stacked the deck is. For example in shows like Bachelor/Bachelorette there is always one douche that the entire world is screaming for their head and yet......said douche always stays on way longer than they would in real life.

They are good for ratings

I suspect it is the same for all "reality shows". The producers probably tell them ok you get to pick 14 guys out of this bunch but JC Dickhead gets a rose until we tell you to dump him. Don't worry, you won't have to marry him.

That reality tv is so scripted takes away the.....well......reality. I first realized (I know, I'm terribly naive) these things were scripted was when I first caught the disclaimer on Operation Repo in the opening credits that pretty cleary say, "We are lying to you." Although I am by no means a reality junkie there are a few that I like. Gold Rush, Black Gold, Moonshiners, and The Colony are all heavily scripted but enjoyable nonetheless. Moonshiners is almost completely fake. The police side of the show is real, the moonshiners side of it is all local legend.

If Survivor is as I suspect I do not want to know.

I think the three tribe format is interesting.

I'm a little worried for Lisa (Blair), the alpha females seem to look down on her. It probably wouldn't do her any good to mention Facts of Life, only the old folks, like Skupin would be interested in that. I hope he and her go far.

Survivor did that same old thing of making us think Russell should/would go and then Zane's plan went for naught. But "weed out the weaklings" is what I have always considered a valid strategy, so I can't argue, although I was sorry to see him go, I think he would have been an interesting player. But quitting smoking right before you come to play is not a valid strategy either. He wasn't up to running at all and in swimming, he might have drowned! The smallness of the tribes could lead to one getting decimated very quickly. I wonder how they will handle this with reshuffling into three smaller tribes or two prior to the merge?

I think this looks like a promising season.

i too am pulling for lisa because id like to see her get what she is wanting out of this. So far her and the older guy on the same yellow team i like.....

i like that Zane was voted off first, he jump started his game a big no no in my book.

I would like to see "the leader" russell go next seriously.....not a fan of his.

I'm concerned for Lisa as well - that banker woman really decided at minute one that she didnt like or trust Lisa ("the older lady") and Lisa, who is normally a very personable and funny woman has sort of distanced herself from the tribe. She did *really* well in the challenge and I hope people notice and remember tat, but I think the first time her tribe loses, she might be gone unless she does something to show them that the Brazilian woman is their weak link in challenges and around camp.

I LOVE that Mike was one of the returning players - I, too, hope he and Lisa go far.

That Zane strategy was one of the dumbest things I have see on Survivor in a long time - and the fact that he thought that would work? Wow lol. There are 2 people on his tribe who I liked, but I am not good with the names right now - one was the therapist woman and the other was the guy with the long hair that she hangs with - I'd love to see them go far.


The 3 tribe thing: I have to wonder if they are going to keep it for very long .... when they did the female vs. male thing with them all living on the same beach, that only lasted a few tribals; so I am wondering if, after the next tribal when the numbers are even (16), they might tell everyone to drop their buffs at the beginning of the next episode (ep3) and then mix them all up into 2 tribes. Or maybe they will wait 3 more tribals - when there are 14 people ....

I think if Lisa's team can win another challenge and if the 3 tribes merge into 2, then she might have a shot at staying at least as long as the merge - but as it stands right now, she might be the first of that tribe to go and that would suck.

Regardless - should be fun to watch this season.

since this week was primarily focused on the tribe that lost last week as well as this week,.....I was glad to see Roxy get voted out i wasn't really a fan of hers after this episode, i like Angie and Malcolm and i like Lisa so i hope she continues to grow and find herself on this show.

Our local CBS affiliate saw fit to air a debate between Leonard Boswell and Tom Latham (Iowa congressional race). Survivor was aired at 2:07 am this morning (after all the late shows and two infomercials).

Russell provided what may be one of the most iconic speeches of Survivor-right up there and maybe surpassing Susan Hawk's rats and snakes dying of thirst in the desert speech.

While everyone listened in disbelief, he said something along the lines of "God made me perfect so I'm not supposed to fail." He just did not understand why everything sucked so much for him.

And the tiniest tribe in Survivor history became even tinier. Would be funny if they didn't absorb them into the other tribes and they dominated and made it to the merge as a two man team. I mean, can they have the other teams sit out four guys for challenges?

Im hoping for the 2 that are left remaining on that tribe....I am pulling for them for sure.

I think that the 2 left will be absorbed into the other tribes next week.

Actually, there was a tribe of one during the 10th season in Palau - one of the tribes just kept losing and losing and losing (like Denise and Malcolm's tribe) until it was down to Stephanie and a guy - they went to tribal and since they couldnt vote, they had a fire challenge and Stephanie won, making her the only surviving member of that tribe.

She was then absorbed into the other tribe, so there was no real merge that season - and I think that was the only season without an actual merge.

I really like Lisa, Denise, and Malcolm - I know he called Lisa the "church lady" (which made me think of Dana Carvey on SNL and I lol'd) and more then one of them has called her "old" - but I still rally like those 3 and would be so happy to see them make it to the final with Denise or Lisa winning at the end.
