Lines
drawn
in
sand
meaningless
and yet
they can
tear
countries
apart

The same lines
rip children
from
the arms
of
their
mothers
in
the name
of
diplomacy

Lines
of
fire
drawn
upon
the bodies
of
our youth
left
dead
in
foxholes

While
lines
are
being
signed
and
treaties
being
written
in
the blood
of
the innocent
