Yesterday I bought myself an absolutely gorgeous sterling silver/amethyst bracelet!
It's a reward/incentive for getting back on my food programme and participating in the AIDS Walk next weekend. The walk was a goal of mine a year ago...the one mile walk is a fundraiser for RAIN the Regional AIDS Interfaith Network here in Charlotte. http://www.aidswalkcharlotte.org/faf...F31F7FD6A01E44 In fact, me just being able to walk at all without a cane, much less a mile, is simply amazing. I credit my doctor and my boss's dog (I take him for a 30-60 minute walk every day at lunch).  So I am celebrating by raising money to help others. Also I am walking in honor of my friends and patients lost to AIDS. I worked in medicine back in the 80s. Those heartbreakingly helpless early days of the plague when few people lived long after their diagnosis and there was little to nothing that we could do for them. |
