Last movie was last night saw "Beneath the dark" It was okay, took forever to get to the point of the film but once it got to the plot it wasn't too bad.

I just saw Super 8 and absolutely loved it!! It was written and directed by JJ Abrams (Directed Star Trek-the newer one with Chris Pine and Fringe on Fox-another favorite tv show of mine).
It is SciFi with a heart, PG-13, focused on a group of 11-12 year old boys, one girl (with guts and spunky) and how they're trying to make a movie to enter into a competition. It is set in the 1970's, hence using a Super 8 camera, instead of anything digital. While doing so, they stumble upon a real SciFi mystery. It has great special effects, is funny & charming. I did shed a few tears @ the end-heartwarming and all that ![]() Recommend it!

A Letter to Brezhnev – I first saw this film in 1985 with my then girlfriend and my Maori Grandmother. It’s set in Liverpool and at first I found the accent hard to understand – I understand the accent a little better now, lol! It’s a kitchen sink drama/love story that, although has dated not very well, is still enjoyable, if you like that sort of thing.
How things have changed for Russia and the UK since this was made and how much I’ve changed over the years – my feelings are toward the characters are different now to what they were when I was 15. ![]()

I saw Secretary with James Spader & Maggie Gyllenhaal on the telley the other day & loved it! I know it's older but I had never seen it. Here's the IMDb rundown on it - they give it a 7.1 rating, that's about what I would say. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0274812 It's a little quirky & off color but I totally loved it.

So far this weekend I've watched...
Horrible Bosses - pretty funny The Green Lantern - surprisingly decent Something Borrowed - pretty good Crazy, Stupid, Love - better than I thought it was going to be Bereavement - just started watching it, so far..creepy and mildly disturbing.. I watched Water For Elephants earlier in the week - think I would have been less disappointed if I hadn't read the book first.. |

Hugo by Martin Scorcse
Wonderful film about a orphaned boy who lives in a Paris train station. He is, through a complex series of events, befriended by the goddaughter of the famous film maker Georges Méliès. It is a wonderful film about grief and love and movies. The images are beautiful the acting is well done and the characters are interesting and developed. I loved it. I saw it in 2D as I generally don't like 3D, it is offered in 3D and according to Roger Ebert (who is my fellow poo pooer of 3D) it worked well.

I went with my kids to see Breaking Dawn. The weekend before I watched the first three movies... cause I have to admit I sooooo did not remember much about them.
That is the joy of fluff...in the hand one moment and blown out the next. So....yup Fluff... but I got to hang with my kids and take them to dinner after; and that was better than any movie...

![]() On a military kick this month. Fly Girls - a documentary on the WWII Women's Airforce Service Pilots (WASP). Led by accomplished aviatrix Jacqueline Cochran, more than a thousand women were involved in this civilian group which logged more than 60 million miles ferrying planes thru out the USA, test-piloting experimental aircraft, and training male pilots on new aircraft. Very interesting stuff. The Tillman Story - about the life of pro football player Pat Tillman and the events surrounding his death in the war in Afganistan. The actual footage of GW Bush administration members "testifying" in a "congressional inquiry" is guaranteed to piss any viewer off. |

The Change Up did have Olivia Wilde, which was a bonus. |
