Yes, going to the doctor for a check up. Well it ended up being more than a check up, but hello it's all good. 2. Did you keep your resolutions? Surely did. 3. What is the biggest/most important lesson you learned over the last year? That there is no shame in saying, "I don't know" 4. What is one thing that you meant to accomplish but didn't? Do you like cheese? I sneak downstairs in the middle of the night and eat it out of the refrigerator. 7. Did anyone new come into your life over the last year? Yes, and boy did they keep me on my toes the last three months. Saying good bye to all of them January 3, 2012. 8. What are you most thankful for over the last year? Beasley's health. I almost lost her in May. Hemoglobin of 3! Thankful for each person that has had a part of her recovery! Thankful and grateful to the man above who was by our side the entire time! 9. Will you make any New Year's resolutions this year? If yes, what? I will stop saying,” Ooh, that feels nice” whenever a security guards frisk me at airports. 10. Name one new thing that you plan to do in 2012. Marry Beasley (shhhhhhhhhh) and try to be more 2012 instead of 2006. Last edited by uglyboi; 12-31-2011 at 11:41 AM. I resolved not to make any New Year's resolutions. 2. Did you keep your resolutions? Why yes, yes I did. ![]() 3. What is the biggest/most important lesson you learned over the last year? I learned so many, yanno? Hard to say what the biggest one was... I guess it would have to be trust; I think that's what they all boiled down to, trusting myself. 4. What is one thing that you meant to accomplish but didn't? Getting That House organized. ![]() Also, getting us out of financial trouble... that one we actually went backwards on. *sigh* 5. What was the biggest change in your life over the last year? There were two and they're equally huge. I learned to see leeches before they get their jaws in me, that was a good change. Lady got diabetes and went blind from VERY fast-growing cataracts, that's a bad change. 6. Do you like cheese? LOL, Dusa, you do crack me up! Yes, there's almost nothing that can't be improved with cheese... even chocolate is better with cream cheese (cheesecake, anyone?). 7. Did anyone new come into your life over the last year? Tons of people, and I am most grateful that they've gone again, too--that thing about leeches, yanno? I seem to attract them with annoying regularity. The people I've met who aren't leeches seem to be keepers though. ![]() 8. What are you most thankful for over the last year? Gryph. Hands down, always and ever, Gryph. 9. Will you make any New Year's resolutions this year? If yes, what? The same as last year, I'm sure. ![]() 10. Name one new thing that you plan to do in 2011. Put in a real garden! I'm planning to renovate That Yard, put in fruit trees, berry bushes and vines, and build a real veggie garden! It'll be our third spring here, and I have a pretty good idea now where I want to put things, where the sun and shade are, and just how long the hose has to be to keep everything watered. (100 feet--it's a big yard, wow!) Last edited by Bit; 01-01-2011 at 08:11 PM. Reason: typonese |

			1. Did you make any New Year's resolutions last year? If so, what? Ummm if I did I don't remember what they might have been.

			2. Did you keep your resolutions?guess not 3. What is the biggest/most important lesson you learned over the last year? I learned it is not healthy nor in my best interest to allow someone, to have control over my emotions. I had to learn to retake control over myself, as I had never experienced such emotion that caused me to lose my emotional self control before. I learned to be more aware of personal characteristics of those who I chose to trust, associate with, bring into my circle and/or love....or not. 4. What is one thing that you meant to accomplish but didn't? I didn't concentrate enough on looking for a better job. I had faith that this too would pass, as far as my job situation, but it hasn't. 5. What was the biggest change in your life over the last year? Learning to live off of a LOT less money, my Daddy coming back home and having a present roommate, and learning to live without PJ..she was a constant for a lot of years 6. Do you like cheese? only the kinds that don't look like they've already been ate 7. Did anyone new come into your life over the last year? Yes they did. Lots of someone news. People come and people go, they all leave a burning ember to remind me of what they came into my life for. 8. What are you most thankful for over the last year? Daddy coming home, my little "Tootie", Nannie not suffering, my roomie, and the support of my friends when I was at the bottom and need them most 9. Will you make any New Year's resolutions this year? If yes, what? No just life style changes 10. Name one new thing that you plan to do in 2011. well it won't be skydiving. I don't know but I'm open for suggestions

**Not officially but I did want to focus on eating healthier and getting my house organized. 2. Did you keep your resolutions? ** I did! I ate much healthier for most of the year but kinda went into "I dont give a fuck" mode around September. Also, got my house in better shape this year! 3. What is the biggest/most important lesson you learned over the last year? ** That some things and people are not worth the stress. I had a stroke in June 2011 and realized that trying to allow space for all the damage in the world isn't a healthy thing for me. I also learned that sometimes no matter how much love you show people, they will be unable to accept it because of their own fears or damage. 4. What is one thing that you meant to accomplish but didn't? ** I wanted to lose 50 pounds. I lost 40 and gained 8 of it back so Im officially down 32 pounds. I do feel better and my knees arent hurting so much! 5. What was the biggest change in your life over the last year? ** Definitely stress management. I read and relax more, turn the phone off more, draw better boundaries. 6. Do you like cheese? ** Always! And discovered my love of peccorino romano this year! 7. Did anyone new come into your life over the last year? ** Yes. A perfectly lovely gayboy and several new girlfriends. 8. What are you most thankful for over the last year? ** I'm thankful for being here on this earth after my very scary stroke. I'm thankful for the love in my life and the possibilities in 2012. ![]() 9. Will you make any New Year's resolutions this year? If yes, what? ** Yes - This year I will get in better shape physically and continue to draw boundaries where I need to. 10. Name one new thing that you plan to do in 2011. ** Buy a new car. __________________

Same as every year. Work to improve who I am. 2. Did you keep your resolutions? Yes, but I still need more work. 3. What is the biggest/most important lesson you learned over the last year? I had three big lessons this year: Be careful what you wish for because you may get it and find it isn't at all what you thought it would be. Just because you are in the right doesn't mean the guilty party will pay in any way, shape, or form. My honey and I can get through anything together. 4. What is one thing that you meant to accomplish but didn't? Considering everything that went on last year, I think I did really well with the things I meant to accomplish. If I missed something...oh, well! 5. What was the biggest change in your life over the last year? Being in daily touch with my mother after a 16 year hiatus. 6. Do you like cheese? I adore cheese. Cheese by itself, cheese on other foods, cheese in the middle of foods..... 7. Did anyone new come into your life over the last year? Yes. A lot of new family came into my life this year. I wish I could say I like them all but the truth is there are a few I don't. 8. What are you most thankful for over the last year? I am thankful for the good that came out of the bad over the year. I am thankful for my honey who held my hand the entire way. I am thankful for friends who were there physically and emotionally. 9. Will you make any New Year's resolutions this year? If yes, what? Same one as every year... to work on myself as a person. 10. Name one new thing that you plan to do in 2012. Take my honey on a well deserved vacation to Maui.

Wow...I had forgotten even posting in this thread last year. So strange to read my own words...and know now all the things I didn't see coming only a year ago.

			Quote:

In the end, it has all turned out....my son is doing very well....my mother is making progress and we are having time to basically say a very long goodbye...and my health is better than it has been in a decade. The end of the year has taken a brighter turn...despite the ongoing challenges...and I have high hopes that 2012 will be an excellent year. So.....for the coming 2012: 1. Did you make any New Year's resolutions last year? If so, what? * Yes, to get my Project Management certification, to improve my finances, to take a nice family vacation and to get in better physical shape. 2. Did you keep your resolutions? * Mostly....I received my MPM certification in the mail just yesterday....the PMP (the gold standard in the industry) will be this spring. My finances are shot. We did some weekend trips and had a week in the Bahamas, thanks to Scoote's work at Papa John's....and I've improved my health and lost 10% of my body weight even though I haven't exercised like I planned. 3. What is the biggest/most important lesson you learned over the last year? * That I need to follow the flight attendant's instructions...and put on my own oxygen mask first before helping those around me. This is true in all of life...not just on planes. 4. What is one thing that you meant to accomplish but didn't? * Financial stability....at this point more important than getting in shape. 5. What was the biggest change in your life over the last year? * There were two...the end of a relationship that I thought was the forever one...and my mother's terminal cancer and the role I've needed to take as her caregiver. 6. Do you like cheese? * Yes, and I would like a grilled cheese sandwich right now, please and thank you. 7. Did anyone new come into your life over the last year? * Yes, several friends on the site who have been incredibly supportive and helpful....several new work colleagues....and someone who makes me smile and laugh and feel like myself again. 8. What are you most thankful for over the last year? * That hope is eternal....and life finds a way. And...that my son is doing beautifully and growing into a truly good person I'm proud of every day. 9. Will you make any New Year's resolutions this year? If yes, what? * Get my finances repaired and stable again. Continue with my new eating patterns to continue to improve my health. Continue my career growth by getting my PMP designation. Build friendships and keep them dear. Let myself be cared for the way I care for others. 10. Name one new thing that you plan to do in 2012. * Be on the top of someone's list.

			1. Did you make any New Year's resolutions last year? If so, what?

No, I do not make NY resolutions. With the being said, I do make personal goals. 2. Did you keep your resolutions? I did meet MOST of my goals. 3. What is the biggest/most important lesson you learned over the last year? I learned that life is too short (DO NOT take things for granted)! To let my family (including chosen family) know that I love them. To Make the most of EVERY day. 4. What is one thing that you meant to accomplish but didn't? I did not lose as much weight as I wanted to. To compete in another traithlon (well actually aquabike) 5. What was the biggest change in your life over the last year? I took the bull by the horns and registered for classes at the local community college. Having two say "later" or as some would say "See you on the other side" to my buddy Mugsyand to my long time companion Boo 6. Do you like cheese? YES! YES! HELL YEAH! 7. Did anyone new come into your life over the last year? Yes, I have expanded my chosen family. I have also connected with someone a very unexpected surprise. 8. What are you most thankful for over the last year? I am thankful for so many things and find it hard to put into words. I am thankful for my health and for those in my life. I am thankful for my chosen family here and the ability to pull closer when there is a crisis. I am thankful that 2011 will be ending on a good note. 9. Will you make any New Year's resolutions this year? If yes, what? I have set new goals for myself and continue with the few "in progress". Just to name a FEW...
 10. Name one new thing that you plan to do in 2012. Just one????? OK OK OK Break the kryptonite code ![]()

I reached three professional goals in 2011: to finish an advanced degree in Math and Science Education, to receive professional certification in teaching high school math, and to start a viable robotics program.

This new year is all about my own health and well being. I want to take fun exercise classes, like hooping, but I might try zumba too, since I really love to dance and we haven't been going out much this year. My poor little Bella is recovering from being hit by a car, but this was a huge unexpected expense, and it will take time for me to recover financially, but it is important to me to continue to pay off some longstanding debt. |

Reviving this thread for this New Year!

			1. Did you make any New Year's resolutions last year? If so, what? No I didn't, but I did have things I wanted to accomplish. This year I plan on writing things down. I think of them more as personal goals than New Year's resolutions, but that may just be semantics. ![]() 2. Did you keep your resolutions? Some I did, some I didn't. I did cut out toxic people out of my life and got a new apartment. I didn't lose weight, get into shape or get as far along with my websites as I would have liked to. 3. What is the biggest/most important lesson you learned over the last year? How important it is to stay positive and to not let negative/toxic people bring you down. 4. What is one thing that you meant to accomplish but didn't? Losing weight and getting in shape. 5. What was the biggest change in your life over the last year? Meeting Belle and moving to Tennessee. It has been so amazing! I really did find true love when I wasn't expecting it. 6. Do you like cheese? Yes 7. Did anyone new come into your life over the last year? Belle Also getting to meet people at the reunion in person- some of whom I have known for years online- was another highlight.8. What are you most thankful for over the last year? My amazing partner. She tells and shows me how much she loves me many times daily. I am so happy and feel I can do anything with her love and support. 9. Will you make any New Year's resolutions this year? If yes, what? Yes, I will make some more specific goals and write them down. They include: - lose weight, eat healthy & get in shape - financial goals with my websites - start playing the guitar again - get back to writing fiction again - have the time of my life with Belle and appreciate and cherish every moment with her 10. Name one new thing that you plan to do in 2012. Become a Grill Meister out on the deck
