Life of Crime
Starring Jennifer Aniston, Mos Def, Tim Robbins. Based on the hilarious Elmore Leonard book, The Switch. Released in 2013 or 2014 Two small-time crooks, Ordel Robbie and Louis Gara, kidnap a socialite in a Detroit suburb only to find out that her husband won't pay the ransom because he's ready to divorce her. It was a cheesy movie, but I liked it. The acting was fun and lighthearted and I'm always ready to watch Mos Def in a film. I enjoyed Anniston and Robbins, too. I'm not familiar with Aniston's acting and will check her out over the next month or so. Also, the character Ordel Robbie is played by Mos Def in this film, but Ordel shows up again in the film Jackie Brown when he's played by Samuel L. Jackson. |

We're the Millers
Drug dealer turned drug smuggler creates a family to help him get a large drug delivery out of Mexico. It was fun. It has the typical hollywood ending, but it worked for me. Check it out if you're looking for something nice, easy, and funny. Thanks for the tip, Gemme. |

I saw this Sunday.
Besides the rowdy row of boys a little ways down from me, it was fun to watch. If 12 year old boy humor is your thing, you'll love it. |

![]() Not impressed with the latest Bond franchise. As a lifelong fan I was eager to watch this new release but I was left utterly disappointed by the script and was tempted to walk out and demand my money back. ![]() Suffice to say, don't believe the hype any fans out there. |

]Carol.
Ok... Firstly I want to say that if you haven't read the book yet, then go see the film first. Because to fit all that the book entails into a few hours is a challenge. I will also say you must go and see it, purely to make up your own mind. This film is still with me now, and I am marinading it over. I think possibly its because I had read the book first, and was so consumed by its plot and more so the two women, their emotions & undeniable connection, that this film just fell a tad short for me. (I may say this in haste though after a breather away from it) But again this is only a personal view. I don't dislike this film by any means and I know of other people who simply adore this film. For some reason I didn't really feel consumed by it. But don't let my review stop you going to see it. I will say that the sets are beautiful, and the acting is exceptional. And unlike the book the very long intro between the two women isn't as long in coming. Perhaps after waiting a whole year for this movie, reading and watching teasers I had this so built up in my head that nothing could compete. Please go and make the effort to see it, then at least you can judge for yourself. I will take a break from Carol, then come back to it when its out on dvd and hopefully my view will have changed. I hope you all love it. yes its me again. so i went to see Carol for a second time this week. i have had a slight change of heart, in that i think its growing on me. if you are able to block out how much more detail the book goes into then its a good film. the problem is with trying to get it to film from the book story is that Therese's thoughts are all in the book, and this is much harder to convey on screen. so you have to just take this film as a different entity entirely. so give it a go. |

Terrific but very sad movie about the loss of an immense talent, Amy:
A second, very funny movie: American Mistress. Both On Demand.

Once Upon a Time in Queens Stars: Paul Sorvino, Michael Rapaport Chazz Palminteri
Recently released from prison, an ex-mafia boss tries not to fall into his old habits, but surviving outside of the mafia is harder than it seems. First be forewarned this movie moves S L O W but with that being said, I rather enjoyed it! It's more about relationships, past mistakes, and someone dealing with who they USED to be, than about mafia life ![]() |

This film was out last week in the uk.
It stars tina fay and her buddy amy Poehler. Yes its mad cap, and silly, but its just great entertainment. You'll laugh at a lot of it, just because its that's stupid. If your wanting just a good old giggle, and a film that doesn't demand too much of you then go see it, you'll have fun. |

Far From Heaven. The script is rather over the top in 1950isms, but the movie addresses some important social issues - "homosexuality", racism, segregation, patriarchy, domestic abuse, conformity, etc. It's rather well acted for the most part, but I didn't think Dennis Quaid was very believable, or perhaps that's what most wealthy men in Connecticut in the 50's were like (reserved, and somewhat mechanical). Some scenes really brought out a lot of emotions. I think it's definitely worth seeing. Actors: Julianne Moore, Dennis Quaid, Dennis Haysbert, Patricia Clarkson, Viola Davis, etc.

I watched No Country for Old Men last night....
I was at Walmart and it was in the bin of $4 movies. Apparently it won an Oscar? I don't know what year.. it was wicked good. Its one you have to watch over again. Tommy Lee Jones and Josh Brolin star and I enjoy them both. The plot is kinda all over the place. But truly it was a great flick. The Coen brothers directed it and I've like their stuff previously. They tend to make loopy kind of movies...in a good way lol

I saw Norm of the North. It's cute and sweet and it's good but it felt like it was from the B team. An example of the A team would be Happy Feet or Toy Story. I still enjoyed it because I like animated films but I could have waited for it on Redbox.

Went to see The Danish Girl & Joy yesterday.
So firstly, The Danish Girl. I will not say much about this film, because frankly this is a must see film. If you don't go to the cinema very often, then I ask you to make the effort to do so. For me personally, I simply adored this film. The acting was exceptional, and Alicia Vikander's performance was nothing short of perfect. This film is so moving, I found I was totally engaged with them on their journey. You feel what she, he and Lilly feel. Take ya tissues because this will have you at some point wiping ya eyes. And if it doesn't, well ya just cold hearted. So to the film Joy. On the whole a good film, all the cast carry it very well. Maybe a tad too long. I liked it, but its not one I would buy on dvd. For me it was a case of I have seen it once, so I wouldn't want to see it a second time. |
