Rare albino deer spotted in Sacramento, California.
A rare albino deer was spotted near a sanitation plant in Sacramento after heavy rains flooded the area. Regional Sanitation staff have been tracking the deer since September and believe it was born in the spring. Screen capture/Sacramento Regional County Sanitation District/Facebook  Sacramento Regional County Sanitation District has tracked the albino deer among a pack of 12-15 black-tailed mule deer on its trail camera since September. Flood waters in the Bufferlands surrounding the sanitation plant have forced the rare deer back into the open, according to KXTV. "We first saw the deer in September, so we think it was born in the spring or fall," natural resource supervisor for Regional Sanitation Brian Young said.

Bear, the dog, freed after 15 years of being chained outside.
 Heartwarming video has emerged of the moment an elderly dog's chain was cut in New York after he spent 15 years tied up outside his doghouse in his owner's backyard. Bear the dog's owner agreed to let him go after Guardians of Rescue had a phone call about his plight from someone in the community, Britain's Daily Mail reports.  Bear had to carry his heavy chain, survive harsh winters outside and received little care from his owner, the report said. "We knew that we had to do something to make a difference in that dog's life," Guardians of Rescue president Robert Misseri was quoted as saying.  The video shows Bear looking up longingly as a rescuer uses bolt cutters to cut through the heavy chain before Bear walks over to rescuers who pat him lovingly.  Venus and Serena Williams will meet in a Grand Slam final for the ninth time after the American sisters came through their semi-finals in Melbourne. Thirteenth seed Venus, 36, beat fellow American Coco Vandeweghe 6-7 (3-7) 6-2 6-3 to reach her first major final since 2009. World number two Serena, 35, saw off unseeded Croat Mirjana Lucic-Baroni 6-2 6-1 in the second semi-final.  Serena is attempting to win an Open-era record 23rd Grand Slam singles title. It would also be a seventh Australian Open victory for the younger Williams sister, while Venus hopes to win an eighth major title, first in Melbourne and first since Wimbledon in 2008.
