The De Niro film sounds like fun. Thanks for the heads-up. Will be sure to catch that. I like seeing him in those kinds of films. I wish I saw more great actors take the chances De Niro takes. |

Hi everyone,
So firstly I saw Spotlight. I liked this film a lotn though it was for me maybe a tad hyped up. The film goes at a steady pace for a long time, slowly building up. Maybe it could have been shortened, but for me it was just right time wise to get you involved. There will be times in this film where you are just down right perplexed at. How this took so long to discover. If you are no a cinema goer, its not one you need to go for, but do get it out on dvd., So now Youth. I really did love this film, it wasn't what I imagined it would be, but in a good way. Its weird in some places, but this just endears you to it even more. Everyone who is in theis film is great acting wise. A real surprise, I wouldn't mind at all watching it a second time. Its sad, witty, and makes you think for sure about getting older and what life will hold for you. But it also tells you never to give up, do what u enjoy doing, bc life is too short. If I didn't have a unlimited membership at the cinema would I have gone to see it? Probably not, but I would watch it online for rent it when it comes out for sure. |

Waltz with Bashir.
An incredibly well written adult animation that is a true story of a man trying to remember parts of his expereince in a war he can't quite remember. So understanding this is in context to his uninformed and lost, terrified, and congative dissonance with war being part of something that horrifies him. It is very intense, well written, true to human nature and form, because it's real. It won four international film awards plus a Golden Globe, and was nominated for a BAFTA and An Acadmy Award (Oscar). It is banned in Lebanon. Trailer: http:/youtu.be/_J9uoLMhMhs I like it because it's a true story. Because it's not glorified bullshit about gun and war. It's *real* war. It tells the stories of the completely baffled, inexperienced, terrified young men with no idea wtf is going on, and having to make life and death decisions for themselves and others when still children and the congative "splitting" or dissonances that happen and the dream like altered reality you enter to cope. Which you brain then later codes into symbolism or erases. It talks of small internal beauty when facing peril. Of fear. Terror. Cowardice. Heroism. Self preservation. All happening in the same person, all at the same time. We are rarely the simple black and white characters North American film often makes us out to be. We are complex, full of good and bad at the same time. And I like that it's not fictional - these events *did* happen. That it's banned in Lebanon is telling. Straight Outta Compton
It was good. It was also cold but real. F. Gary Gray (director) didn't whitewash nor sugar coat anything nor anyone as far as I can tell. Images, beats, feelings stayed with me after it was over. Acting and directing was good by all. Giamatti is so good at playing a sleaze bag that it almost goes unnoticed. There is a frightening and hilarious scene on a school bus that was priceless. Will watch this one again. Last edited by Orema; 02-07-2016 at 01:33 PM. |

Earlier in the week, I saw these movies.
It was cute and super fun. I liked it. It's kind of like the Hunger Games series had a baby with the Maze/Scorch Trials. They left it wide open for a sequel. Tonight, I saw this movie. One word: inconsistent. Some parts were hysterical and I loved it but they lost me in a few others. I was actually bored here and there. This could have been a Redbox for me. |

I was upset with the question concerning taking him to another place..consider who would have been dropping him off. ( I am trying to be discreet for those that did not see the movie).
This movie evoked many emotions especially based on real life events that have made it the news ( and sadly those that don't and there is no way of knowing what the situation may be). P.S. I have other objections of course considering the context of the movie.

The Dead Lands,,, from New Zealand on Netflix..great fun as Maori tribal warriors slash away at each other with their eyes bulging fiercely and their tongues stuck out at least 6 inches. Best part ? The car that somehow got overlooked and whips by, way in the distance .

I have two movies that I am genuinely excited and anxious to see.
and They open a week apart. One's more of an anti-hero movie and the other is about real heroism. |

My online daughter and I just saw Ride Along and Ride Along 2. They're funny in the stupid way Kevin Hart can be and pretty typical. Good for a couple hours of fun you don't need to think about.

Saw Hail, Caesar! last weekend. Similar to what Gemme said I thought it was inconsistent. Truly witty and funny some moments, but dragging awkwardly through other moments.
