The Good Girl with Jennifer Aniston, Jake Gyllenhaal, John C. Riley, Tim Blake Nelson.
It started off pretty decent. Nothing to write home about, but worth watching at home for an hour or two. I thought Aniston nailed the accent and was believable as a small-town girl who's smitten with a new employee at work. There was an ordinary pivoting point when the new employee robs the store. Everything was fine till the ending—the ending ruined the movie for me. I was left looking at the TV screen thinking WTF just happened? The acting was good, though it was a slow-moving story. And it had a jacked-up ending. |

Just got back from seeing this in the theatre--what a ride!
10 Cloverfield Lane After surviving a car accident, Michelle (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) wakes up to find herself in an underground bunker with two men. Howard (John Goodman) tells her that a massive chemical attack has rendered the air unbreathable, and their only hope of survival is to remain inside. Despite the comforts of home, Howard's controlling and menacing nature makes Michelle want to escape. After taking matters into her own hands, the young woman finally discovers the truth about the outside world. |

We did not like the ending at all, did you? We thought it did not fit with the rest of the movie. Different strokes!

I saw Zootopia tonight. It was fantastic and very clever. There's inspirational messages for kids and a theme for living in unity that could be viewed in a lot of different ways.
I did see the ending coming but then there was a small twist and then a big twist and none of us in the theatre was ready for the big twist. I think every single person cracked up at that moment. The trailer is good but the movie is better. Glad I went! |

I saw two movies today. One in the theatre and one at home with Redbox.
Allegiant was cinematically gorgeous and the effects were on point. The storyline was okay. Maybe the last movie in the series will be better. It was good. Not great. The 33 had a lower budget and was cemented in reality as it's based on real life events and the people have real world problems. Their future is now and it's gritty and not pretty but it's real. I liked this movie. |

What did you think of American Sniper? Clearly, you enjoyed Furious 7 enough to watch it twice (or, if you didn't, you're a movie masochist) but how did you like AS?

The Big Short
Very well-done movie about sleazy banks and mortgage companies with the easy-to-qualify adjustable mortgage loans of the early 2000's and how it all blew up; causing so many people to wind up losing their homes.

The 75
Documentary about the 75th precinct in New York City and a group of dirty cops and their history of trafficking cocaine, burglaries and robberies in the early 1990's. The worst of them, Michael Dowd, drove around in a new red Corvette, even parking it at the precinct. It finally fell apart when a guy that they hired to sell coke, sold some to an undercover cop from Suffolk County, New York. Dowd wound up only serving 12-years in prison after bring convicted of racketeering and conspiracy to distribute narcotics. After His conviction, Mayor Dinkins appointed a commission to investigate police corruption within the NYPD. As a result, dozens of officers across the city's precincts were arrested. Fascinating and sad documentary.

But I'm a Cheerleader
It was very good. My first time seeing it and I see why it's a favorite cult classic. Good acting, nice soundtrack, serious issues, and fun... just the kind of camp I was hoping for on this Saturday afternoon. |

The Big Short
Finally got around to seeing it recently and really didn't care for it all that much! Actors that I've usually found enjoyable I found down right irritating! I know myself well enough to know that I prefer documentary when it comes to this type of movie subject usually anyways so... ![]() |

I have never read the books and I have to say I enjoyed all of the movies from this series. I'm still a little unsure if I liked the ending..I mean it was nice, but I found myself wanting something different, if that makes sense.
I would watch it again though for sure |

'All Things Must Pass' is a documentary that explores the rise and fall of Tower Records, and its legacy forged by its rebellious founder, Russ Solomon.
I had been waiting ages to finally see this documentary and was NOT disappointed! If you have fond memories of wandering the countless aisles and floors of Tower Records, hopefully you will find this movie as enjoyable as I did ![]() |
