I always forget stuff like this, perhaps you can share what you learn. I need reminders of some basic stuff here, as I was gone from forums for like 5 years or so.

Like how do I post an actual video? I imagine there are instructions somewhere here in the forum, but could not find em. Not yet anyways, I will keep looking and keep on trying different things.

Yes. I have experimented with the you tube link, but I know there are other film links as well. Not that that matters much, can not even get the you tube link to work.

Quick question: I have noticed that a thread I have on ignore still pops up on the front/home page of the website. When I click "new posts" it is gone, but it is always there on the front/home page. Is this a glitch or just how it works?

It's a glitch. The "ignore thread" module apparently doesnt cooperate with the Vbulletin insert that creates our front page. Basically, it will ignore the thread if you navigate to the forums and look around but it still shows up on the "recent threads" module on the front page because it is incredibly server intensive for all of those queries to regenerate every time someone refreshes the page.

I am hoping that we will find a better module that is integrated with the front page at some point!

If they changed it to a basic editor setting. if it was me, I'd doublecheck in User CP --> Edit Options --> Misc Settings (at the bottom) and make sure it's set to Enhanced WYSIWYG settings

This has happened before but I just can't remember what the solution was. I'm supposed to receive instant email notifications but I have not received any since yesterday and I can see several threads that should have come through, so my thingy is broke.

I've gone into my edit options and made sure it's all still checked the way I want it and it is. I've saved again but won't know for a bit if that helped or not.

What else could I do to restart that function?

Linus? I have a question tonight for you:

Sometimes when I am online here, I will be browsing threads and reading and while I am reading, the system logs me out. I don't know if this is a site related issue or maybe it's an issue concerning my notebook or an issue that is constrained to the internet connection or what.

I sometimes will become annoyed when this happens. Especially if I am making a post or what-have-you.

What do you think the issue is that I am having?
If it's my notebook or the internet, then I might be able to do something about it on my end. But I don't know if the issue is technically something on my end or if it's site related.

Any advice you have for me will be met with appreciation!

You won't receive mail notifications if you are online alot. I will have to check our system to make sure mail is moving forward in this regard. You may want to check your spam box to ensure it didn't get flagged as spam.

You can verify that threads are set for email notification by going to the UserCP --> List subscriptions and verifying that it has the word "Instant" beside the check box. If it doesn't and you want it to be instant, select the thread(s) in question, go to the bottom where the drop down menu option is and select "Instant email notification". Then select Go.

What browser are you using? This usually is a cookie or caching issue. My particular browser has allowed me to be connected since I first joined the site and the only time I'm not connected is when I deliberately log out. So this tends to be local to where you are.

Actually, I always have. Received the instant notifications, that is. And all but once it's worked. And now it doesn't work again and I just cannot remember what the solution was from before. I remember thinking that it wasn't a whole lot of trouble to fix but am drawing a blank as to WHAT it was that was done to correct the issue of me no longer receiving the instant notifications per usual.

So, I know how to set them up. I checked last night and they are all set up on bfp to receive instant notifications via email.

They aren't in spam; I'm not getting any. I was bored at work today and was thinking about it and remembered that Bessie (my curmugeon computer) had had some updates done the night before I noticed things went wonky for me. I'm old school with Windows XP. I think my updates changed something in how I receive info from the site because even when I log in and try to go to new posts, it tells me there are none. But, if I go in through another old email notification or if I go directly to the home screen and log in, I can clearly see there are tons of recent posts in threads.

So, my computer is not receiving ANY links or info from the site. I'd really like to remedy that, please.

Actually, anyone who might know this. I am looking around for more information about working with the gallery. Specifically the albums. I can't find anything like an overview or an FAQ.

I want to find out how to re-order photos within albums for adding and deleting to keep them current, how to choose the cover shot on each, what if I have a pic not in an album and want to move it into or out of. Those kinds of things and other questions I don't even know yet because I am just starting to try it. I need it s-l-o-w-l-y, I'm a bit challenged.

Is there a thread or FAQ?

We haven't created a thread or FAQ. At the bottom of your gallery you should be able to sort based on date uploaded, however (either ascending or descending in date). I'll have to check into the others later to see if I can provide some simple instructions.

I just checked it and it is working. I've restarted the email server so hopefully it's working for you. If not, when I get home this weekend I'll look into it further to see if there is anything else that I can do to get it working for you.
