Okay. Loving Myfitnesspal. But...I wish it would let me change some things...Like daily amounts available...I am not into the carbohydrate level recommended. No way, no how.

They have a website too, and I find it easier (obviously) to navigate the site that way. The app comes in handy when out (also obvious).

Okay, day one, back on the wagon. 1 hr and 55 minutes worth of workouts. I am tired, and curious to see if I will rinse and repeat at least an hour of that tomorrow. Wish me luck, please, and thank you

It amazes me how one simple show, and one transformation, can really change a person's perspective not only on their lives but on life in general. I just finished watching Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss edition and it was a very emotional episode. The gentleman on the show, Tony, weighed in at the beginning at 398 lbs and the show profiled his year long weight loss journey. In that year he had so much life thrown at him; one of his sons died, he got out of a serious relationship and was also homeless for 6 months. Yet even with all of that thrown in his way he didn't let any of it stop him from reaching his goals and by the time the show was over he weighed in at 200 lbs.

His dedication and determination to lose the weight even in the face of all the adversity he went through is truly inspiring, and it hit a real nerve with me. I, like many of us here, have had life thrown at me from all angles and food has always been my crutch. I've allowed myself to get to a point where I am endangering my own life simply because I've let food get the better of me. I must change this and as of today I will no longer let myself be a slave to food ~ its upto me to say no thanks and know that I am worth more than what I put into my mouth

I have been pretty good about tracking my food...
Like Hollylane there are items that I am struggling with...
What happens if you go over on your protein?
What happens if you don't get enough?
The same can be said for the other things listed...
I have no problem with the movement/exercise...
The food is the part I am struggling with as it says I am not getting enough...
I drink plenty of water, so that it isn't a problem either...

Keep up the good fight everyone!
Hope to see some more of you on myfitnesspal...

It's just really challenging for me to stick with my routine when there are disruptions (disruption = mother-in-law).

I'm going to try and make today a better day and will look forward to my usual routine starting again tomorrow.

Big hugs all the way around...
Feels good to be back on track today!!

I was up EARLY and in the backyard pulling up weeds and trimming trees and bushes. My breakfast was PERFECT, and I'm ready for a fantastic day!

Thanks to Pinkie and the others who planted the Fitness Pal seed for me. It feels much safer and smarter FOR ME to focus on the calories. And I love how it breaks down the fat, protein, carbs, etc...

Yikes, just read all of my typos!

The main reason it was successful for me was about portion control and the weighing of foods helped embed images of what average portions look look like. I am a compulsive over water and I need this approach. Also, WW started out as a means to cool and prepare food, not what it has become- another packaged food plan in so many ways. Don't like all the sodium and additives in prepared meals.

Bit everyone is different, so I guess we all figure out what works. For me, recognizing years ago that my eating patterns were not "normal" as well as developing bulemia was the key to changing eating habits for life. OA and a WW based eating plan is my mainstay. And yes, I can fall off the wagon still sometimes.

Yes ! At the end of the week it's interesting to see how you did on sugars etc. That is one thing i do not like about WW (although i think it's still a good program) is that you can for example have iceberg lettuce for lunch and eat ice cream and still be in your point range. Of course you won't lose easily this way and it's probably not a bad idea from the marketing aspect.

Yup and sugar can be such a trigger food for people like me that can get so compulsive with eating. Once I get off on a sugar binge, I'm in trouble.

We are all different, however, so probably many people can have the sweets and it is OK.

For me it depends on what sugars. I get about 62g per day (average for May) but the vast majority of those grams are fruits and veggies which to me aren't a problem. So to me, it's not about the grams - but more about what's making up those grams.

I try to keep my carbohydrates between 15 and 30, but optimum weight loss, for me, happens with a limit closer to 15.

Today was my weigh in.. 4 lbs lost!!
Grand total of 103 lbs lost since April of 2011...

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!
So happy to have myself back on track..
The last two months, i was so unmotivated and maintained, didn't lose.
Which was okay, because maintaining and "knowing" i can maintain, is so important once i am happy with my weight..

But, i am so happy to hit this milestone.. It was a big one for me..
So now i'm at 212 lbs .. (started at 315)
No idea of my goal weight, i don't really have one..

To be honest, my only goal in this, is to find ease, happiness & peace of mind.
AND good health, of course..i know every step i am taking is bringing me better health overall... That's what i'm focusing on the most & what keeps me going.

At the very beginning, i was so weight obsessed.
So i love how my thought process is changing throughout this journey.

Next weigh in is June 25.

It's been a little over a week since I have been able to
make it into the gym - work schedule screwy and sleep schedule
all screwed up....but yesterday the phone rings (local number)
and I pick it up....

Al the Trainer: "Where the hell have you been?"
Jo: "Right here, working my ass off! Who the hell is this?"
Al the Trainer: "Get your ass into the gym, we open up at 5 am!"
Jo: "I'll be there tomorrow between 5 and 6!"
I knew right there and then who it was.....and I am not
crossing that crazy Russian!! I was there at 6:30 and by
6:45 am he had me sweating like a pig!

Gotta' love those accountability partners!

I get "the look" from the older ladies at Curves if I miss a day. Not the same, but equally effective what with the head shaking and tongue clucking and all.

They all know when I'll be on vacation, and when I'll be back....and probably a dozen have said "and we'll see you MONDAY morning, won't we?"

Gulp.

Yes ma'am.
